When Laura Hospes was hospitalised for depression, anxiety and disordered eating following a suicide attempt, she decided to explore and share the emotions that were going on behind closed doors.
She started taking intimate self-portraits, exposing the life of someone going through recovery in a psychiatric hospital.
The results, forming the UCP-UMCG project (named after the hospital in which she stayed) are hauntingly beautiful.
She told metro.co.uk: ‘At first, I made the photos for myself. Just for dealing with all my emotions and [taking] the opportunity to express them in front of my camera.
