In case you didn’t know, food waste in the UK is a pretty massive problem.
A 2013 study found that families in the UK throw away around 24 meals each month, adding up to 4.2 million tonnes of food and drink wasted.
The OLIO app is hoping to change that, connecting neighbours and local shops to make sure food isn’t wasted.
It works by allowing users to upload a photo and description of a food or drink item they’re not going to consume. You then provide pick-up details, and can choose whether you’d like to sell the food cheaply or give it away for free.
