With eight designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – not bad for a nation with a population under 2 million – there is no shortage of magnificent sights.
You can’t really go wrong when half a country is covered by coastline; any drive along Northern Ireland’s winding clifftops is one you will remember.
But there are also plenty of gems inland to take your breath away.
