6,000 donations are needed every day in England and North Wales, at a time when the number of new donors has fallen by 40 per cent in a decade. So you can feel pretty smug.
That doesn’t stop it also being a pain in the arse though. The cheap biscuits and watered down squash don’t really make up for an hour of your time and a hefty bruise.
Even if letting slip that you make regular donations does impress people at parties.
