An animal rescue centre has written a heartbreaking open letter to the owners of a dog who died after they found her abandoned as a stray.
The dog, who they named Hannah after rescuing her, was so weak she could not stand.
Her nails were the most overgrown the pound had seen and her waist was so thin a human hand could fit around it.
The rescue team made her a bed out of an old duvet and it is here that she can be seen snuggled up in her final hours on photos Hope Rescue shared on their Facebook page.
Despite medical care, Hannah died. Hope Rescue said they prayed the vet could save her life so that they could find her the loving foster home she deserves.
But sadly, they were too late.
