Kent has been voted Europe’s top destination for a family holiday in Lonely Planet’s best in Europe 2015 guide.
So how did Kent, known as the Garden of England, pip sun-drenched destinations such as Normandy in France, Ibiza, and Germany’s Black Forest to the top spot?
Well according the Lonely Planet, Kent was awarded the accolade due to the ‘host of opportunities it offers curious young minds,’.
These include retro fun on the beaches of Broadstairs, mind-blowing views of the English Channel from the White Cliffs of Dover, and nostalgic thrills (notably the reopening of Margate’s Dreamland amusement park, which boasts the UK’s oldest wooden rollercoaster and a 1920s helter-skelter).
