Brighton’s hot for 2016 (Picture: Getty)

If you haven’t ever caught the train down to Brighton to eat fish & chips on the pier, 2016 is definitely the year to do it.

Because TripAdvisor has announced the world’s leading destinations for 2016, according to feedback from millions of TripAdvisor travellers – and Brighton has been named sixth trendiest holiday spot on the planet.

Cllr Warren Morgan, leader of Brighton & Hove City Council welcomed the news, saying: ‘I am delighted, but not surprised, that Brighton & Hove is recognised among the best in world by travellers from the UK and overseas.’

Top spot was claimed by the somewhat sunnier and arguably slightly more glamorous resort town of Tulum,… Read the full story

Keep on believing in Santa (Picture: Hid My ass)

There’s been a conspiracy going round for years that’s trying to kill the magic of Christmas.

Yeah, you know the one – that huge fat lie that Santa Claus isn’t real.

Once parents were able to hide their children from the horrible lie, but with the birth of the internet, it’s gotten harder and harder.

Little ones who just want to Google where to send their letter to the big man, may stumble upon accusations that he doesn’t even exist.

Too much cheer (Picture: Alamy)

There was a sweet sigh of relief throughout the country in July when Tesco got rid of the voice that said ‘unexpected item in bagging area’.

But now there is a new voice at the self-service checkouts causing fear, confusion and even anger.

Hoping to bring Christmas cheer to the world, the supermarket’s machines now wish customers a Merry Christmas as they finish their shopping.

It’s being rolled out at the moment, but will be a feature in all stores by December 10.

Which seems quite nice – after all, they’ve definitely gone to a… Read the full story

How can you not love Christmas? Time off work, almost an obligation to eat too much, presents, and the opportunity to drink champagne at breakfast time.

While it might be all fun, games and watching The Great Escape for the thousandth time, it’s also really stressful, especially if you’re cooking.

When the kids are hyped on sugar from sweets in their stockings and going a bit crazy with their new toys, and the in-laws are already into the bottle of sherry, you’re gonna need a hand.

Even the build-up to Christmas can be a slog; braving the seventh circle of hell that is all shops in December to buy presents, then the wrapping of the presents and setting up decorations.

But don’t panic. We’ve got 15 really great hacks to help you get through Christmas in one piece.

1. Find a use for tangled lights

There’s nothing more annoying than loads of lights being so tangled up that you find yourself swearing at inanimate objects. But you… Read the full story

The video, which has now been viewed over three million times, shows little Alfie and Lily coming down the stairs in their PJs to discover a giant Christmas present in the living room.

It’s a classic – pretend you’re taking their photo and take a video of them instead.

One husband has been pranking his wife with the same ‘Forever Pose’ joke for years. And, nope, it still never gets old. Not for him at least.

Florin Mehedinti, husband and dad-to-be from Seattle, Washington, posted a compilation of his long-suffering wife Gracie’s best reactions online a few weeks ago with the caption: ‘Wife asks for photo, wife gets video instead. Guy lucky to still have wife.’

Guy has a point.

What happened to Santa? What happened to a belly that shakes like a bowl full of jelly?

And why are we getting so hot in our Christmas jumpers? Oh yeah, that’s the acrylic.

Still, Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre may be able to lay claim to having the hottest, most fashionable, mall Santa in town. Aka Yorkdale Fashion Santa.

He goes by the civilian name of Paul Mason.

Mason is an experienced model who happens to have a Santa-style white beard. And he’s currently steaming up the grotto Stateside.

Instead of a red suit, Fashion Santa wears a red Ferragamo jacket.

Just a couple of lil’ rice ball babies (Picture: @eharamasahiro/Twitter)

So cute.

Who hasn’t had to resist the urge to squeeze a new baby’s adorable little chubby cheeks?

Well, welcome to your new favourite meme: Rice Ball Babies.

It’s huge in Japan (where else?) and involves squeezing your baby’s face to make it look like an adorable little rice ball and then sharing the pics online. Because if it’s not online, did it even happen?

The trend was apparently started by Tokyo-based comedian Masahiro Ehara, who posted a series of pictures of his daughters’ faces, squished to look like rice balls, over the summer.

Social media: a tool that makes obsessively stalking your ex an acceptable thing, takes joy in reminding you that a year ago today you were happy and in love, and allows you to post all the passive aggressive subtweets your post-breakup state requires.

It doesn’t exactly make breaking up any less hard to do. In fact, it just throws up a whole load of new problems. Are you supposed to untag all your photos together? Delete your cutesy tweet exchanges? We honestly have no idea.

Which is why we’re glad that there’s now a professional who’s ready to step in. Caroline Sinders, a freelance photographer and tech-y person, has… Read the full story

This mum’s appeal for a family to spend Christmas with has received hundreds of responses (Picture: Craigslist)

A single mum was inundated with offers of turkey dinners from strangers after she posted a Craigslist ad asking a family to adopt her and her son for Christmas.

With her older daughter set to spend Christmas away with her dad, 30-year-old Autumn Mazzitelli decided she didn’t want her and her three-year-old son Jessiah to spend Christmas alone in a new town – they recently moved to Victoria from Nelson, British Columbia, Canada.

So, she posted an ad in the ‘lost and found section’ asking if any family wanted to adopt them for Christmas.

‘K.’

So, science has just confirmed what we all knew to be true: if you end your texts with full stops, everyone thinks you’re a massive dick.

A new study from Celia Klin and a team of researchers at Binghamton University has found that when you end your texts with a full stop, people think you’re being less sincere.

Researchers gathered 126 students to read a series of text exchanges (or textchanges, as we like to call them), each beginning with a question like ‘want to grab drinks later?’ and ending with one word replies complete with either… Read the full story

I have just recorded the 100th episode of my Leicester Square Theatre Podcast.

It’s quite a milestone for a self-produced piece of entertainment but one of the advantages of making content for the internet is that there are no executives informing me they’re taking me off the air.

I can keep going until everyone stops listening (and even after that if I wish).

There’s no censorship, no time limit and no charge.

That’s right. There’s around 9,000 hours of chat with this country’s finest comedians available to download for FREE.

Pre-orders for the UK’s first beef jerky advent calendar have crashed the company’s website (they claim), a full year before they’re due to hit shelves.

Brits love a bit of beef jerky it seems.

Spotting a savoury gap in the advent calendar market, Wild West recently announced plans to bring out a ‘jerky all the way’ Honey BBQ Beef Jerky calendar for 2016 and invited customers to register their interest here.

However, after the website crashed and they were inundated with pre-orders, the jerky purveyors posted this message yesterday, shattering jerky lovers’ dreams everywhere.

Fancy polishing your oral sex skills? No? Well you should. Because female pleasure is important, damnit, and only around 7% of women can reliably orgasm from penetration alone.

Educating the people on this important cause are Simple Pickup – the guys who used some fruit to demonstrate how to finger a girl – and some porn stars, who’ve teamed up to share some tips on going downtown and saying hello to Susan (Is that not what the kids are calling it?).

Porn stars Skin Diamond, Dana Dearmond, Anikka Albrite, and Penny Pax educated some seemingly clueless guys on how to properly pleasure a… Read the full story

But while it isn’t always easy bringing a dog from a shelter into your home, it can be a wonderful experience too.

They may be small but that doesn’t mean we get any less attached to our pet fish.

Which is why one couple decided they needed to do something special to honour their pet betta fish called Watson.

They gave him a truly special send off – with a proper Viking ship burial.

Not even Barbie can escape the new honest social media trend.

We’re bored of perfectly made-up selfies and filtered views of other people’s curated lives. It’s time to get real. Yes, even if you’re plastic.

The Barbie Instagram account has just hopped on the #MakeunderMonday trend – a weekly social media movement encouraging people to share their makeup free, unedited photos.

Rather than just sharing Barbie without her lipstick, Mattel has decided to focus their Makeunder Monday posts on how kids really play with their Barbie.
