You wake up thinking about breakfast, then waste away your morning at work planning out your sad desk lunch. Post-lunch, you do actually get on with some work for a bit, then have a few biscuits before dedicating your time to planning dinner.

Sound about right?

A new study from Heinz has confirmed what we all pretty much knew to be true: The average British person spends a third of their waking hours thinking about food.

Buuuut there may be some plants you’ll want to steer clear of.

There are good people in the world. (Picture: Instagram/wildeyed)

Proof that times of crisis really do bring out the best in people.

Elise Boissonneault plans to get married this weekend in Toronto. Everything was going to plan until a wildfire burned through her home of Fort McMurray in Alberta, destroying her wedding dress along with the bridal shop where it was bought.

Luckily Elise and her fiancé were evacuated to safety, but having no dress and being unable to return to her hometown did put a dampener on their wedding plans.

But they decided not to let the fire ruin their big… Read the full story

Rainbows for days. (Picture: Instagram/nicolasa_esthetician)

If there’s one thing the beauty world is losing its sh*t over right now, it’s rainbows.

Seriously, you saw the meltdown over that magical rainbow highlighter. Rainbows are the new glitter. They’re everywhere.

So it makes total sense that people are now transforming their eyelashes into mini rainbows – with the help of some snazzy lash extensions.

Yup. The rainbow lashes trend is taking over Instagram. And as fiddly as it may be (and it does look bloody fiddly), the results are pretty damn cool.

People are painting their lashes into a rainbow with colourful mascara.

We all remember the moment we experienced the devastating realisation that ten minutes on the treadmill does not, in fact, cancel out having three Mars Bars afterwards.

It was deeply upsetting. Because, chocolate.

And while Mars has not magically changed the laws of science and made our ten-minutes-of-running-equals-three-mars-bars dreams come true, they have created a new version of the classic treat that you can at least pretend is healthy. Because it kind of is.

You can now buy Mars and Snickers protein bars. Whaa?

The sun’s out, spring is here, summer’s around the corner, so it’s time for us to start banging on about how we plan to spend our Sundays having picnics in the park and heading out to street food festivals.

Except we will do neither of those things, because we are deeply, deeply lazy and can’t be bothered making fancy cucumber sandwiches.

And come September we will look back over the summer and regret our inaction.

So we’re very, very pleased to discover that there’s now a service that will organise a romantic picnic on your behalf – complete with a butler, so you can literally just sit back and relax on the grass… Read the full story

What does beauty look like around the world?

That’s the question photographer Alexander Khimushin explores in his incredible photo project, The World In Faces.

For the last eight years Alexander has been travelling all around the globe, venturing out alone to experience new cultures, see incredible landscapes, and enjoy new ways of life.

But while on his travels, Alex realised something: the most interesting part of his journey weren’t the sights and tourist attractions, but all the people he met along the way.

You know when you see a good deed popping up on social media, and it genuinely makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?

Yeah? This video is exactly that. It is lovely. It is pure loveliness put in a box and wrapped up in a bow.

A teacher named Mrs Andrews was devastated when her cat passed away – and her students knew they needed to come up with a way to make her feel better.

So a group of students decided to give her a surprise. At first they just planned to bring in cupcakes and balloons (which would have been a… Read the full story

Because oreo bagels exist in the world, and it’s possible that no food will ever measure up to their glory again.

Oreo bagels. They’re exactly as magical as they sound. They’re a chocolate and vanilla swirled bagel with cookie and cream flavour cream cheese and ACTUAL OREOS in the middle.

Their real, very fitting, name is Oreo Overload, and they’re sold at The Bagel Nook in Freehold, New Jersey.

Pentecost this weekend is all about celebrating the birth of Christianity.

And what better way to do that with your kids than with some pretty awesome activities – teaching them the story of the Holy Spirit and how God gave it to the apostles so they could share the wisdom with the world.

Here are some of our faves… and you don’t have to be religious to join in the fun.

When you’re a parent of a child with autism, you quickly get used to judgement and odd looks when you’re out in public.

One mum came up with a solution.

Sunnie Suscia, from Femantle, Australia, is mother to eight-year-old Georgie. Georgie was diagnosed with autism five years ago, when he was just three and a half.

Sunnie’s friend, Constance Hall, explained on her blog that Sunnie and her husband, Art, quickly learned to adapt and accept Georgie’s condition.

They now say that the biggest challenge they face is other people’s judgement,… Read the full story

Lottery

We’ve all dreamt about it. We’ve all worked out how much we’d give to each person and how many houses we’d buy in the south of France.

But, have you ever wondered what actually happens when you hit the jackpot? As in, how quickly you can get your hands on that cash and start off running to Harvey Nics?

Well, just in case it does ever happen to you, and inspired by a recent post on Reddit where a Canadian couple explained what happened after they won a million dollars, we’ve spoken to Camelot to find out exactly what happens next.

Y’know, after you’ve done a few laps of the living room, felt a bit faint, and screamed into a pillow.

The best news? Normally it always seems to rain during the Chelsea Flower Show but this year there could be a glint of sunlight.

It’s just a long ranger forecast so not entirely reliable, but the Met Office suggests some ‘dry, fine and warm’ weather might be… Read the full story
