If you’re dying for some quality nosh but don’t have the money to spend, then you’re in luck because there’s now an app for that.

A pair of ‘eco-entrepreneurs’ have created an app that lets customers order food from restaurants that’s destined for the bin – at a fraction of the menu price.

Londoners Chris Wilson and Jamie Crummie, both 25, have come up with Too Good To Go as a way of reducing food waste.

Man’s Snapchat story of his cat bringing a bat home is a painfully frustrating watch

Cats are strange creatures.

They’re fascinated by a piece of string yet couldn’t care less about expensive toys bought for them. And they’ll ignore the comfy bed you’ve offered them, choosing the cardboard box it came in.

Apparently, they’ll also bring you a bat home and let it fly around the house all night long without a care in the world.

That’s what this Snapchat user found, anyhow.

Cat owner Nick Miller was pretty confused as to why his furry friend had bought a bat home to play.

Unsure of what to do, Nick decided to film as his cat poked at the bat – which led to an entire Snapchat (Snapcat?) story, documenting Nick getting more… Read the full story

A 71-year-old war veteran has finally received his high school diploma 52 years after leaving school.

Jesse Castillo left school to serve as a Marine in the US military during the Vietnam war. He later came home due to combat injuries – a grenade had landed between his legs and he badly hurt his knee.

Luckily doctors were able to fix his physical injuries but Jesse remained home and decided to study again.

After two years of college, Jesse took up a job offer at his local post office.

According to an interview with KIII 3 News, he took the job because he ‘couldn’t turn down the money’.

Fat and Ugly
Fit4Less’ latest provocative billboard (Picture: Man in Black/Twitter)

A gym chain based in Derbyshire has divided opinion with its latest ‘lighthearted’ membership drive.

The new Fit4Less advertising billboard, spotted in Sawley, Derbyshire, reads: ‘Tired of being…Fat & Ugly? Just be ugly at Fit4Less’.

The gym chain has used similar posters before, but the Sawley billboard marks a new run on the fat-shaming posters.

And this billboard replaces one they were asked to remove in April, which depicted a UFO beaming someone up, with the words ‘they’ll take the fat ones first’.

Parents get that ‘back to school’ feeling too. Except it’s a little different for them.

One mum summed it up perfectly in a Facebook post last week, featuring a picture of her five kids all lined up, ready for their first day back after the summer holidays.

‘Happy 1st day of school kids. I’m gonna miss y’all,’ wrote mum-of-five Keshia Leeann Gardner, from Alabama, alongside the picture of her jumping for joy while her children laugh/cringe in the background.

The post has now been shared over 260,000 times, mostly by other exhausted parents.

People are particularly enjoying the children’s reactions. ‘Love how the… Read the full story

Seriously, can anyone explain this advert for men’s razors?

confused britney spears

Look, we understand that it can be hard to come up with creative ways to advertise a product that’s been around for years.

Especially when that product is a men’s razor. There are only so many ways you can show a man with perfect stubble being lovingly caressed by a hot woman.

Maybe that’s how this absolute mindf*** of an advert came into being. Desperation. Confusion. A strange, dark brainstorming session.

Men’s razor brand Schick Hydro Canada recently shared an image on their Facebook. We think that image was intended to advertise men’s razors, but we’re honestly not entirely sure.

It read: ‘Don’t give summer the shaft. Give her the vitamin D.’

A guy has shared all the texts he’s received from his neighbours, complaining about him making noise since they moved in on March 19 this year and it’s intense.

‘On March 19th of this year, we got new neighbors. After having had three or four different people move in and out over a span of time (we live in low-income apartments), this was nothing new,’ Imgur user ChefSwasty begins.

He says that he went down to introduce himself to the couple, who have a young baby, and he gave them his mobile number, explaining that he has an electronic drum kit (which he uses for around… Read the full story

Hold off on all engagements, job announcements, and casual Thursday afternoon celebrations. A champagne shortage is coming.

According to a report from Decanter, bad weather, rot, and high levels of mildew in Champagne (the Champagne region of France, that is, where champagne is made) have meant that 2016 has been one of the worst years for champagne since the 80s.

Quelle horreur.

Late frosts in the springtime have meant that this year’s champagne yield has been the lowest in years, with one winemaker having lost 70% of his potential harvest.

The frost, combined with grey rot and mildew, means that the Champagne region will only produce an estimated 2,500kg of champagne grapes per 100… Read the full story

Beauty tutorials are so serious these days. Makeup is difficult and when everyone’s telling us to create new eyebrows, lip-lines and contours, it can all get a little hard to follow.

You never end up looking like the vlogger.

Careless Morgan, however, is one person you have to watch.

She uploaded the best beauty video on Twitter the other day and, quite deservedly, it’s gone viral with over 90,000 likes.

She hasn’t got any fancy brushes.… Read the full story

When you leave hospital clutching your first baby protectively to your chest, you’re immediately plunged into a whirlwind of chaos.

Before you know it you’re typing ‘how to swaddle’ into YouTube, staying awake on nothing more than black coffee and fear, and fighting the urge to protect your precious bundle with bubblewrap and a helmet.

Here are 18 things you’ll definitely experience in your first week of parenthood. Don’t worry – you’ll get the hang of it.

1. You argue about sleep

If your partner dares to sleep through a bout of midnight baby screams, a full scale war breaks out in the morning.

Life as a single dad in New York’s most disadvantaged neighbourhood

In a small neighborhood in Brooklyn, a third of the residents are living below the Federal Poverty Level.

Only 8.7% of households in East New York include a spouse and 1.7% include an unmarried partner.

East New York is also home to a growing number of fathers raising their children alone.

The statistics of single parent households are often dangled in front of the media without context, condemning fathers as being absent; the fathers labeled as ‘deadbeat dads’ as many inner-city black men and men of colour are.

New York based photographer Phyllis Dooney is challenging this stereotype through photographs and interviews.

This guy just built a ‘chuffing huge’ 360 degree swing in his back garden.

Unsurprisingly, it’s the only 360 degree swing in the UK.

Colin Furze is a 36-year-old plumber-cum-inventor-cum-vlogger from Stamford, Lincolnshire. He’s also a dad to three-year-old Jake, who happens to love swings.

So, Dad decided to impress him by building a giant one that spins him all the way round, with views over the neighbouring houses.

Most of us love the odd McDonald’s treat but one woman was so addicted to the stuff, that she spent over £60,000 feasting at the fast food chain.

Elle Goodall, 28, was so hooked on her favourite takeaway that when she finally gave it up for good, she lost a huge 16st 8lbs.

And her addiction was so bad, that she’d order at least three meals in each sitting and if she couldn’t get her fix, or her husband ordered the wrong thing, would fly into angry rages.

It was only when Elle, from Queensland, Australia, went to the doctor with flu, and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes – at just… Read the full story

No, swimming on your period isn’t unhygienic, gross, or unsafe

Yes, swimming on your period is totally fine (and it doesn't attract sharks)

A gym in Georgia caused outrage this week when they put up a sign telling women not to go into the swimming pool when they’re on their period.

They argued that the ban was introduced for hygiene purposes, having previously had the water ‘contaminated’ by a woman on her period. Right.

Now, clearly, this is an absurd ban.

Banning menstruating women from a pool is not only a bizarre form of misogyny (why are you so scared of women’s bodies, bros?), but it would also be very difficult to enforce. Unless you perform vaginal checks on each… Read the full story

We know that beauty knows no race, nationality, or creed, but with the absence of darker skin tones in fashion and beauty campaigns, sometimes it’s good to have a little reminder.

And ‘The Ethnic Origins of Beauty’ is just that.

It’s a documentary and research project, dedicated to documenting the ethnic diversity of mankind through the ‘beauty of women of all ethnic groups of the world’.

If you’re constantly swearing like a trooper, have a messy desk or stay up late, then you’ve probably been had an ear bashing about your filthy habits in the past.

But today, that might all change.

Because researchers have now concluded that messy, foul-mouthed night owls tend to have higher IQs.

Smarter people know how to curse

One study looked at how many swear words people could name within a minute – before testing their IQs.

Those who could name the most also tended to score the highest on the intelligence test.
