Today is International Childfree Day, AKA the day when those of us who don’t have kids can revel in all the things parents can’t do – like having a lie in, reading a book, getting out of the house in under 10 minutes or locking the bathroom door when we go to the toilet.

One thing that dumps all over this carefree happiness, though, is people like Professor Geeta Nargund insisting that women have kids before 30.

Eating has been a habit since birth – and they always say that you never forget your first love.

Food is just so much more simple than 90% of things in the world. Love, stress and drama- no thanks babes – give me a burger or a pot noodle any day.

There are many reasons food is number one in my eyes…

If you thought Etsy was all twee knitted doilies and Blitz-spirit bunting, you’d be wrong.

Etsy has a dark side. A nightmare-inducing childhood-ruining dark side, of utterly terrifying not-at-all cuddly toys.

Why would anyone want to own a bloodied post-apocolyptic Super Mario plush, we don’t know. But as these creatures prove, there’s obviously a market for them.

Some like it hot… just not THAT hot.

People may be moaning about the disappointing summer here in the UK, but spare a thought for the residents of Bandar Mahshahr, in south-west Iran, where temperatures hit a totally unbearable 165F (74C) on the heat index (or ‘feel-like’ temperature) yesterday.

Meanwhile, in neighbouring Iraq – where temperatures in the capital, Baghdad, hit 126F (52C) this week – authorities declared a mandatory four-day holiday and urged people to stay inside and drink lots of water.

A Yorkshire man called 999 because his girlfriend let the cat eat his bacon.

The audio of the call – which has been released by West Yorkshire Police to highlight the number of time-wasting calls they receive – is quite frankly one of the finest examples of stupidity we’ve encountered in a long time.

The call starts with the 999 operator saying, ‘West Yorkshire Police, what’s the emergency?’, to which the man on the other line answers, ‘Me girlfriend has let the cat eat my bacon.’

Over the weekend, one of the most recognisable cityscapes in the world was used to raise awareness of animal species under threat of extinction.

Filmmakers projected images of some of the world’s most beautiful and endangered species, from eagles, to leopards, and monkeys, onto the Empire State Building – all 1,250 feet of it.

The burger chain is already trialling all day breakfast in parts of the US and Australia – and now it’s begun trials of a new ‘gourmet breakfast’ menu to lure us back to the big yellow M.
