We’re sure, like us, you all remember that utterly terrifying Cravendale milk advert about what would happen if cats had thumbs (because like us, you’re probably still waking up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night with images of gangs of cats with thumbs breaking in to your room. No? Just us?).

Well, let us introduce you to Cravendale the cat (yes, his name is a reference to the adverts, it’s not just a super-freaky coincidence).

London has a lot of things going for it – that fun game of trying to dodge crowds of angry people on Oxford Street, the comfort of being snuggled into a packed underground train with no ventilation and the pride of earning that fiver that might stretch to a pint.

But aside from those joys, life down South really pales into insignificance compared to living oop Norf.

Many surveys suggest that Northerners are far happier – with a recent study claiming that Yorkshire is the happiest place in Britain. And there are good reasons why those that live higher up on our quaint little island feel a bit better with their lot.

For when you’re feeling a bit crap about your infrequent gallery trips and lack of cultural knowledge, draw some life inspiration from Pickle, the dog who loves art.

Pickle is an adorable French bulldog who has no time for all those pretentious art appreciation fakers. This dog is a genuine art critic, not just some poser (though he does pose well).

Pickle doesn’t just slowly walk around art galleries pretending to think about each piece’s greater meaning, like most people. She actually appreciates the work.

She really GETS what art is all about.

The mind is a powerful thing – used correctly you can think yourself to an orgasm.

Most people going in for some solo loving reach straight for the genitals, but there are more ways than one to achieve climax.

Mik Scarlet is an advocate of ‘thinking off’, where you create new erogenous zones with the help of your mind.

The technique was developed to help people with spinal injuries and other impairments maintain a healthy sex life.

And what’s extra annoying about it is that it doesn’t happen when there’s a man by your side, meaning that a lot of guys are skeptical about just how bad the problem is.

The Scene decided to give some men a glimpse of the catcalling and street harassment women face on a daily basis, making it personal by showing a group of dads footage of their daughters being catcalled.

Just put the phone down.

A new study says constantly using your phone might be damaging how your brain works, ruining your attention span and resulting in more ‘cognitive failures’.

Dr Lee Hadlington of De Montfort University surveyed 210 people between the ages of 18 and 65, rating their brain function in terms of perception, memory, and motor function.

The study found that the more times the person used their phone per day, the more likely they were to experience ‘cognitive failures’, which is a scary way of saying they did stuff like losing their keys, forgetting that they made an appointment somewhere, or losing focus in the middle… Read the full story

7 reasons to ditch dairy foods now

Dairy Cow
It’s not natural (Picture: Getty)

As consumers get more and more savvy, they’re ditching dairy foods faster than you can say ‘soya cheese’.

From health benefits to concern for animals, here are seven reasons why the white stuff is most definitely not the right stuff.

1. We are not baby cows

Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do – to feed their babies. However, on all dairy farms, including organic ones, calves never taste a drop of their mother’s milk. Instead, they’re torn away from their mothers shortly after birth so that the milk nature intended for them can instead be consumed by humans.

Female calves often share the same cruel fate as their mothers – they’re forcefully impregnated, have their babies torn away from… Read the full story

XX things you never knew about your boobs
You’ll never believe what the Greeks thought boobs could do (Picture: Liberty Antonia Sadler)

Crazy, sexy, cool.

That’s how I’d describe breasts.

Crazy because they come in about a billion styles, sexy for obvious reasons and cool because, well, they can actually feed tiny humans.

But apart from these obvious attributes there’s a lot more to learn about the girls.

Here’s 18 things you never knew about boobs.

1. Boobs are intergalactic

According to Ancient Greek myth, we have the goddess Hera’s breast milk to thank for the Milky Way.

Her husband, Zeus, had it away with a mortal woman, who gave birth to the hero Heracles.

While she was asleep, Zeus brought the baby to her to suckle, so it would receive godlike qualities.

But Hera woke… Read the full story

Ditching your friends is like a bad break-up – lots of mutual friends, awkward encounters and a LOT of bitching but sometimes you just need to let the friendship go because it WILL affect your self confidence… and don’t fool yourself into thinking otherwise.

Just ridiculous.

This may look like a total normally outfit to you, yet last week, in the year of 2015, American high school student Stephanie Hughes was sent home from school because this outfit was deemed too revealing.

If you’re failing to see what exactly is so offensive about this outfit, you’re not alone, because the fact is, there’s is nothing.

However according to the principal of Woodford County High School in Kentucky, Stephanie’s low-key jeans and T-shirt combo breeched the school’s dress code.

Why? Because her collarbone was on show.

Seriously.

According to Stephanie’s mother, Stacie Dunn – who posted this picture of Stephanie on Facebook, along with an enraged rant… Read the full story

Hey, it’s officially okay if your awkward teen stage was accompanied by a total lack of dating prospects. Science says so.

A new study from the University of Denver suggests that being in a relationship in your teens can lead to a whole host of problems, from depression and anxiety to alcohol abuse.

Researchers followed 200 16 year olds for nine years, asking them to complete questionnaires tracking their romantic relationships, as well as assessing their level of anxiety, depression, and social withdrawal.

They were also surveyed on their drug and alcohol use, as well as their ongoing feelings of happiness and satisfaction within their relationship.

The abundance of food on a stick in that prosperous land they call America has come to our attention after the Iowa State Fair.

A lot of presidential candidates go to be photographed at the fair, showing all their American-ness in their bid to be leader of the Free World.

Whilst politics is great and everything, what really caught our eye was the food they were eating.

On sticks.

Because why use a knife and fork when you have a set of perfectly good teeth and a stick?

What to do when you’re being investigated for terrorism? Start an art project of course.

Hasan Elahi is a professor at the University of Maryland and an artist, who was stopped by the FBI at Detroit Airport in 2002.

The FBI suspected he was involved in terrorist activities and, over six months, brought him in for repeated questioning.

They wanted to know where he was in September 2001, when the attacks on the World Trade Center took place.

Luckily Elahi kept detailed notes in his planner, but it took nine polygraph tests until the FBI were satisfied he wasn’t involved.

Giving old photos a whole new life.

Artist Jane Long‘s Dancing with Costica project takes old photographs and brings them back to life, recolouring the images and giving each of the photographer’s characters their own imagined backstory.

Jane says she started the project to brush up on her retouching skills, but quickly got caught up in Costica’s images, wondering what the stories of the people in the pictures could be.

She says: ‘I wanted to bring them to life. But more than that, I wanted to give them a story.’
