Really? (Picture: Sangita Myska/Twitter)

WeSwap is the latest company infuriating commuters with its outdated approach to advertising.

Ironically, for the London-based company which markets itself as a ‘social currency exchange’ site, where people from different countries can swap currencies, they’re now trending on social media for their ‘gross and sexist’ marketing strategy.

Ads have been popping up this week in London stations to promote the currency swap with lines including ‘We can’t swap your missus for a Swedish supermodel, but we can swap your money for her krona’.

Or, there’s the one that reads ‘We can’t swap your cleaner for a French maid, but we can swap your money for her euros’.

This is why we all hate the sound of our own voice

cringe face gif

You know that thing when you hear the sound of your voice on a recording and want to die inside? That.

There’s a reason why we all hate the sound of our own voice: science.

It’s all to do with the inner workings of our ears; the outer, middle and inner parts.

The middle part of the ear amplifies and transfers sound to the inner part which translates those sounds into signals for the brain.

So far, so straightforward right?

People who wear skinny jeans are happier, according to a new study

When sound enters our ears it is either air-conducted (outside noise, like a recording of ourselves) or bone-conducted (the voice inside our heads).

Dr. Chris Chang, an otolaryngologist at Fauquier Ear, Nose & Throat Consultants in Warrenton, told NBC that:

‘When [people listen] to a recording of their voice speaking, the bone-conducted pathway that… Read the full story

Film producer Gordon Gray is rallying Hollywood stars to help save his two little girls, who are dying from Batten disease.

He needs to raise $10 million (£6.5m) to fund a cure for the neuro-degenerative disease that affects his daughters – four-and-a-half-year-old Charlotte and two-year-old Gwenyth.

After a year of seeing doctors about the eldest daughter Charlotte’s declining coordination and speech, three months ago, Gordon and his wife Kristen were told she had Batten disease, a rare and fatal genetic disorder.

They immediately had their youngest Gwenyth tested and found she too had the disease.

The life expectancy for children with Batten is between six and twelve years and they… Read the full story

When filming a wedding video with a drone goes wrong

When technology fails at the worst possible moment. (Picture: YouTube/ JerryRigEverything)

Think smitten newlyweds in some whimsy green field, think epic camera fail.

Reddit user ZacksJerryRig posted this video with the headline, ‘I filmed a beautiful wedding last weekend’,  and it basically sums up why using a drone has its downsides.

It starts off well but the zoom-out shot goes way, WAY out and (spoiler alert) lands up in a load of tree branches.

‘I did not have the guards on. They mostly only help with solid objects anyway,’ said the camera man.

‘The branches would have still dropped the drone. I replaced all 4 props and it was back flying again within 10 mins’.

So just a minor glitch… Read the full story

The vending machine of dreams (Picture: Media Tumblr)

What springs to mind when you think of vending machines?

If you live in the UK, probably plastic cups of cold coffee, watery cup-a-soups, and packets of crisps.

Not to mention the dreaded wheel of death getting stuck and trapping your treats. Frustratingly not cool.

The rest of the world, however, is winning at vending machines.

For example, did you know that a machine in China dispenses live crabs in an edible container, with vinegar and ginger tea? Or that it was possible to receive a freshly baked 9″ pizza in just three minutes?

This interesting infographic created by Express Vending (who incidentally sell vending machines that you *could* fill with anything you like) shows some of the best and most downright… Read the full story

The University of Missouri is considering banning women from attending frat parties, to reduce the number of sexual assaults on campus.

According to a document called ‘Chancellor’s Summit on Sexual Assault & Student Safety in Fraternity Houses’, which was leaked online earlier this week, the university is considering banning female guests from entering frat houses between the party hours of 10pm and 3am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Following a recent spate of rapes and other attacks against women on campus, the MU Fraternity Alumni Consortium will meet on June 20 to discuss this proposed rule, along with proposals to ban out-of-town formals and all alcohol other than beer.

Step away from the science! (Picture: Getty Images)

Over the last few days, men have been kindly telling women what they can’t do, presumably to save us from the embarrassment of trying to do them, and then inevitably failing. How generous of them.

In case women are now left mystified as to what they can safely do these days, here’s a handy guide that you can refer to next time you’re asked to watch a movie or do some science.

Women can’t…

Understand Goodfellas

According to Kyle Smith, Goodfellas is about male bonding, which must prove his theory right, because I thought it was about gangsters and the corrupting drive for power. Women clearly don’t understand Goodfellas. Thanks Kyle!

The fact that AskMen.com decided to ask a pool of 5,000 guys what their preference was when it comes to women’s public hair, is about as interesting as… oh no, wait, it’s not interesting.

You know, because what women do with the hair on their bodies is their goddamn business.

Pit hair, don’t care: Women are sharing pictures of their liberated armpit hair

According to the results, 41 percent of men like it totally bare down there (shocker), and 38 percent like to see a well-groomed bush.

That said, 85 percent revealed that grooming choice wouldn’t stop them from hooking up/dating a woman. Now there’s a thing.

And apparently four in 10 men said they had experimented with some sort of waxing or shaving during foreplay. How very Fifty Shades of them.
