A woman from South London has changed her name to Jemmaroid Von Laalaa by deed poll in an attempt to get back into her Facebook account.

Miss Von Laalaa – formerly known as Jemma Rogers – set up her Facebook account seven years ago using the ‘ridiculous’ pseudonym because she wanted to avoid unwanted ‘friend’ requests from casual acquaintances.

However, last month, she received a message from the social media giant asking her to prove that Jemmaroid Von Laalaa was a genuine person.

The 30-year-old holistic therapist from Lewisham used her best Photoshop skills to doctor an image of her bank card, hoping to fox Facebook into thinking her family name was in fact Von… Read the full story

Official Duff Beer is finally coming (Picture: Imgur)

After years of bootleg versions, official Duff Beer is finally hitting the market outside Springfield.

Simpsons fans who just ‘can’t get enough of that wonderful Duff’ have been snapping up unofficial versions of the beer for years, with breweries around the world capitalising on the cartoon’s selling power – only to be shut down by Simpsons owner 21st Century Fox and their lawyers.

However, the media giant has finally decided to give thirsty fans what they want – and official Duff Beer launches in Chile this week, with plans to roll the beer out to Europe early next year.

‘Woohoo!’ as Homer would almost certainly say.

After being plucked from the Nolichucky River near Erwin on Thursday, Noli Bear is on the road to recovery at the Appalachian Bear Rescue in Townsend. The five-month-old, 14-pound American black bear was rescued by rafting guides who had seen the cub struggling by the side of the river for several days. Matt Moses, who owns the USA Raft Company, said the bear was finally rescued and brought to his property by guide Danny Allen of High Mountain Expeditions. "We had seen this bear over the last four days, and there was no sight of a mama bear," said Moses.

A woman who adopted a terminally ill dog so he could live out his final days in style has written a touching tribute, after he died on Friday.

Nicole Elliott from Columbus, Georgia, adopted Chester from Animal Ark Rescue after learning he was terminally ill with cancer.

‘I am trying to give him normal doggy experiences that he may have never had the chance to do before, and a ton of spoiling,’ she explained last week.

She was planning a bucket list of activities and had set up a Facebook page called Chester’s Final Journey where people could follow… Read the full story

Because we’ll never get tired of seeing animals wearing tiny hats.

Fuzzberta – full name Fuzzberta P. Jones – is a guinea pig who’s gained massive internet fame for getting dressed up as pop culture icons, trying on various professions, and getting in on the latest internet trends by rocking the Elsa braid or throwing on a shark fin for Shark Week.

She’s pretty cute, and clearly very okay with patiently sitting still as she gets styled and photographed. Impressive.

This one goes out to all the gooseberries out there.

All those third wheels who’ve tagged along with their best mate and their plus one, feeling like their sad, only child.

It’s only moderately less soul-destroying then spending every Saturday plonked in front of Netflix with your meal for one.

Well, one man, known only as ‘earthyhillgivens‘ on Imgur has managed to find the humour in the situation. He’s documented his life as a third wheel to his best friend and girlfriend, in hilariously awkward, and slightly unnerving, detail.

He captions his poignant photo-series ‘three wheelin’. And, don’t worry, there’s a happy ending. Sort of.

Here’s the three of them on a ‘fun’ Saturday trip to Minnesota’s Mall of America.

11 reasons the hottest girls are always single

Hot (Picture: Getty)

Some of the hottest girls I know are single. Fact.

There’s no disputing it.

Why? Because often, what makes a person single is exactly what makes a person sexy.

1. They’ve got big personalities

There is a big difference between being hot and being pretty.

Anyone can be pretty – being hot is a different ball game altogether. It comes with self-assurance and personality, both of which can leave men crapping their proverbial pants on a date.

2. They’re loyal to their friends

Hot single women don’t dump their friends the minute a man comes along. Far from it – the men in their life have to form an orderly queue and wait their turn.

Friends come first.

Wearing a bra might be making your boobs saggier, says science

What’s the point? (Picture: Getty)

Taking your bra off after a long day is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

But, despite years of trusting them to hold our chests up and stop everything heading south, scientists are now saying that going bra-less might actually help keep your boobs perkier.

Pardon?!

Dropping a major boob-bombshell, the French study revealed that women could experience about a 1/4-inch (7mm) lift in the nipples for each year they didn’t wear a bra.

guess-the-bra

The study suggested that bras discourage the growth of supporting breast tissue, resulting in the breasts sagging more quickly – something we’ve all been told they help prevent.

The study was conducted by Jean-Denis Rouillon, a sports medicine specialist from the Centre Hospitalier… Read the full story

10 things only student midwives know to be true

The summer holidays are here again and students across Britain are busy donning backpacks, throwing parties and generally getting as far away from textbooks as they can.

But spare a thought for the thousands of NHS trainees working their socks off all summer long.

Here are a few things about being a student midwife that most of us would never imagine.

1. Urine is the most exciting bodily fluid

Testing samples is a student midwife’s bread and butter. I never thought I’d describe someone’s widdle as ‘perfect’ but sometimes that’s just how it is.

By the same token, you sometimes feel like a wine connoisseur: wee can be ‘straw-coloured’, ‘cloudy’ or ‘frothy’ – though rarely ‘floral on the nose’.

2. Baby boys have a brilliant habit of spraying… Read the full story

British fast food fries ranked from worst to best

It’s World French Fries Day so what better opportunity to officially rank the carby offerings of this nation’s finest fast food chains.

I’ve taken into account size, texture, seasoning, condiments and availability to determine which fries deserve the crown.

I can tell you that it was by no means a chore to carry out this essentially unnecessary investigation.

7. Wendy’s/Wimpy

I couldn’t actually find a Wendy’s or Wimpy in the London area, which puts them last on our list due to the fact they aren’t readily available unless you’re on the motorway.

But, from what I can remember back in the day, their fries were never my favourite anyway.

The internet is a strange place.

While the upsides are numerous, you can encounter some frankly bizarre people every time you log on. Some of them are intense, some of them are a bit annoying, some of them are endearing – and some of them are you.

No matter what you spend your time doing online (hey, that’s your business!), you will have cyber-met at least one of each of these folk:

1. Trolls

Yeah, the obvious one. No longer do we associate these beastly creatures with residing under a bridge – now they live in every comments section and social media page just waiting to insult and offend you. Because there’s nothing else better to do with life.

2. Campaigners

Call it coffee with a conscience.

This coffee shop doesn’t just want to kickstart your morning – it wants to help people down on their luck to kickstart their careers – and lives – again.

Second Shot Coffee is the brainchild of final year UCL student Julius Ibrahim. He plans to open an independent coffee shop in East London that will train, employ and support London’s homeless, reintegrating them back into society.

He also wants to serve really great coffee. Because you know how those East Londoners get about their beans.

‘We know that our impact only comes from making our customers happy,’ Julius explains, ‘which is why Second Shot will be serving some… Read the full story

The 90s as a decade was hands down probably the best ever.

Not only was it a great time for TV and music, but it also carried an abundance of smells that transports any self-respecting 90s kid right back to their glorious childhood.

1. L’Oreal Kids shampoo

Your mum bought it because it promised no tears and every true 90s kid knows that if there is a heaven it probably smells of the watermelon version of L’Oreal Kids.

2. Dairylea Lunchables

Before Jamie Oliver waded in to highlight the ways in which the junk food we scoffed was bad for us, this was the snazziest lunch you could have. The waft of processed cheese and cold biscuits still makes your mouth water.

Frederick Tomlinson found the fly tipper’s detail among the rubbish (Picture: Facebook)

Note to all fly tippers: if you’re doing to illegally dump rubbish near where you live, make sure you remove anything with your name and address on it first.

One Australian man’s trash came back to haunt him this weekend, after a good Samaritan scooped it up and delivered it straight back to him.

Frederick Tomlinson from Bakewell, near Darwin, heard on Saturday that a large amount of rubbish had been dumped in the bush near where he lived.

So, he grabbed his ute (of course) and a mate, and went round to clean up the mess.

However, as he explains on Facebook, the fly tipper helpfully left his name and address among the… Read the full story

How can it take so long?

But when you complain you expect someone to take notice.

And you wouldn’t expect the complaint to take 19 DAYS to sort out.

The Pizza Hut I’d ordered from refused to refund, didn’t apologise and said the lack of pizza was just “one of those things”.

It’s not one of those things. Let me explain:

The side of Shanghai you weren’t expecting (Picture: Hannah Berry George)

With a population of around 25 million people across an area spanning over 2,400 square miles, Shanghai is China’s largest city.

Traditionally a port town, Shanghai literally means ‘on the sea’.

It has a rich history in textiles and fishing, with a diverse Western influence on the culture and architecture brought in from foreign powers after the Treaty of Nanking in 1842.

The English, French, Russians, Germans and Americans moved in and set up ‘concessions’ – pockets in the city where it was like a little England, France or Moscow.

Today, only the French concession… Read the full story
