Gone, but not forgotten. (Picture: Imgur)

This is a story of a devastating loss, and one man’s persistence against all the odds.

Imgur user phillyalex uploaded his story to the site, sharing how he responded when a cute girl decided to walk off with his favourite sunglasses: a weekly text message asking for them back, over the course of an entire year.

He explains how, last summer, he met a girl in the a bar, they hit it off, and then hung out a week later. All was well, until he asked her to hold his sunglasses in her purse.

He writes: ‘She turns to me and says she’s going to go outside… Read the full story

Third trimester of pregnancy: can’t wait for baby to arrive! (Picture: Maricel)

In the final stages of pregnancy you really understand what the term ‘waddling’ means.

You’re so uncomfortable that the thought of birth doesn’t scare you anymore, you don’t even care if you have to stand on your head to welcome your baby into the world just as long as they arrive soon.

Here are 11 things every mum-to-be in their third trimester will understand:

1. Eat, sleep, pee, repeat.

Morning routines consist of: have a pee, get in the shower, have a pee, blow dry your hair, have a pee, eat some breakfast, have a pee, walk out of the house then panic as you need a pee and don’t know where or when you’ll find the next toilet.

Toddlers: they’re such d*cks, right?

Tantrums, total disregard for other people’s feelings, constant need to throw things/hit people/pull hair.

For a long time, people have assumed that toddlers’ d*ckish behaviour is really their infantile way to express themselves, or get creative, or learn how to deal with anger. Or they’re genuinely upset.

But a new study from the University of California, Santa Cruz, reveals that actually, toddlers are often horrible for literally no reason. The research, led by Audun Dahl, found that most of the time, acts of aggression in toddlers are entirely unprovoked.

Dahl interviewed 74 middle-class mothers of toddlers, asking them to describe a recent occasion when their child physically harmed someone… Read the full story

I regret so much gif

The best source of life wisdom? The older people of the internet.

A new Reddit thread popped up this week which asked the ‘older people’ of Reddit (anyone over 25, it seems), to share their biggest regrets with the world. So that we can all learn from their mistakes and not do silly things.

Here are some of the best ones so far.

From ArmandoC09, who wants you to consider your career choices:

A lot of people here climbed up the right ladder only to realize that it was propped up against the wrong wall.

From workpuppy. Stop wasting time.

It’s always about time wasted. The older you are, the more you resent your younger self for f*cking around.

Marriage regrets were pretty common, like this one from swordsman3000:

Getting married to the wrong person. Now Im close to 40, no kids, mostly bald. No one wants to take a chance on me. I just… Read the full story

So much wasted food.  (Picture: Getty)

In case you didn’t know, food waste in the UK is a pretty massive problem.

A 2013 study found that families in the UK throw away around 24 meals each month, adding up to 4.2 million tonnes of food and drink wasted.

The OLIO app is hoping to change that, connecting neighbours and local shops to make sure food isn’t wasted.

It works by allowing users to upload a photo and description of a food or drink item they’re not going to consume. You then provide pick-up details, and can choose whether you’d like to sell the food cheaply or give it away for free.

It’s a great way to get rid of unwanted food, or to pick… Read the full story

‘Stop getting my name wrong!’ (Picture: Warner Bros)

JK Rowling gently scolded Harry Potter fans today, telling them off for mispronouncing the name of his nemesis, Lord Voldemort.

While most of us – and most of the characters in the film, in our defence – say the dark lord’s name with a hard ‘T’ sound at the end, Rowling had other plans when she created him.

The menacing moniker should have been pronounced with a silent ‘T’, like the French word for death, ‘mort’, when talking about He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named-But-This-Is-A-Blog-Post-About-His-Name-Dammit.

The first month post-breakup is tough.

A new app is hoping to help you through this universally horrible time, providing a 30-day guide to getting through any breakup, complete with daily tasks and life lessons.

Rx Breakup is an app created by Jeanine Lobell, a makeup artist and the creator of Stila cosmetics, and qualified relationship therapist Jane Reardon.

They decided to make it after seeing loads of people coming to see Jane after breakups, feeling obsessive and like they couldn’t let go.

Having gone through similar breakups in their twenties, Lobell and Reardon knew that finding someone to talk to when you’re at your lowest point can be difficult.

Thigh gaps are dead. Now ‘thighbrows’ are the next big body trend

This week in random body parts to obsess over: the thighbrow.

The internet has proclaimed that the latest body trend we should all be paying attention to is the thighbrow.

Confused? It’s not actually anything to do with artfully placing arches of hair along your legs, but is in fact the crease created when thigh meets hip, which, apparently, looks like an eyebrow. Thighbrow.

The good thing about this body trend, versus that collarbone coin thing and the ubiquitous thigh gap obsession, is that you don’t have to have a specific body type to have a thighbrow. You just have to kneel, or lift your legs up, or just slightly contort your body until… Read the full story

Admitting you don’t like babies is the first step. The first step in making people think you are a total monster.

Because it goes against nature. You are literally going against all your evolutionary instincts to think babies are adorable and want to have your own ASAP.

But it’s normal to dislike babies or be afraid of them. Or just think they’re creepy and weird. Because they are.

And we all need to stop lying to ourselves.

1. They’re boring as f*ck

Ooh, look, it blinked. Now it’s made a noise. Can we watch a movie now?

The Exorcist

This is brilliant, but terrifying.

Over the last week, a story has been doing the rounds online about an evil genius and a prank he played on his unsuspecting colleague.

The story comes from Dave Trott, an advertising exec turned author and blogger. It’s taken from his book, Creative Mischief, published in 2009. The book is a collection of highlights and anecdotes from Dave’s career, which began at ad agency BMP.

The collection is described as ‘a perfect prompt for anyone looking for new ideas.’

Here’s the extract everyone’s been talking about. After it was tweeted earlier this week with the caption: ‘this is how to troll someone,’ it’s been retweeted over 1,600 times.

Like the blurb said, a perfect prompt for anyone looking for new ways of scaring the bejesus out of their… Read the full story

It’s that time of year when many of us are sending our little ones off to school for the very first time…

We need to get children, up, dressed, fed, out of the door and somewhere on time. In. The. Morning. And we need to do it all while feeling stressed, tearful and overwhelmed about our babies growing up way too fast!

So it may go something like this:

The night before, you set your alarm ridiculously early so you can get up and ready before the kids.

Get up and spend an hour looking at old pictures on Facebook of your soon-to-be schoolchild and crying.

You hear so many people say ‘nobody in their right mind would bring their child up in London’ as though it’s the worst thing you could ever do.

As it goes, we had brilliant childhoods.

And if you grew up in a city, you’ll know all the following things to be true.

1. Learning to drive was alarming.

That’s if you bothered. Country folk think that tackling a tractor and some sheep is hard work. Try being confronted with a six exit roundabout and a traffic jam of double decker buses on your first lesson. Terrifying.

2. The top deck of a bus was where it was at.

An unexpected way to show off high heels.

Fancy shoe designer Brian Atwood has just unveiled his latest ad campaign, that’s skipping the usual sparkly dresses and glamorous makeup angle for something a little different.

He’s got a bunch of male models, asked them to strip off, and put them in a pair of heels. Is it wrong that we keep sexually objectifying people in order to sell things? Maybe.

But isn’t it kind of nice to see men stripped down and just in heels for once?

Plus, they’re nailing it. They look pretty fierce.

Last week, a mini mystery surrounded an advert in the September issue of Vogue, which featured the silhouettes of a bunch of plus-size models, a date (September 14), and the hashtag #PlusIsEqual, along with a tagline reading: ‘It’s time for change.’

The ad, which happened to be the only page featuring plus-size models in the entire issue, had no brand name attached. Everyone kind of assumed Lane Bryant was behind it, but they refused to comment at the time.
