Christmas always seems like forever away.

And then it stealthily sneaks up on you and you realise the office Christmas party is in under a week.

It’s always the same frantic rummage through the wardrobe and a desperate search on Pinterest for easy makeup ideas.

Sure, your colleagues see you as you are, covered in tea stains, nearly every day of your waking life.

But at the party you want to prove to the world that you can look glamorous, while you flirt with someone totally inappropriate.

So this year instead of getting in a tizz I tried and tested five big beauty trends to create the ultimate Christmas party look.

Here’s what happened.

Not only is he a part of Christmas, but he also has amazing songs, an amazing voice, and is a total romantic at heart and even gate crashes school choir performances. What a catch.

stubborn]

For some reason being classed as stubborn is often seen as a negative personality trait, but what’s so terrible about sticking to your guns on pretty much everything?

Sure it gets intense here and there, but eventually it all pays off, because you always win in the end.

And besides, who cares if sometimes you’ve not spoken to your own mum for several months just because you needed to prove a point?

Here’s 13 things only really stubborn people understand.

1. You are always right

There has never ever been a situation in you entire life where you have been wrong.

You are beyond right always, and yes, you will ensure that everyone knows this.

2. You thrive to have the last word

The last word is key, because this what everyone always remembers. Duh.

3. You don’t let things go

The term ‘getting over it’ isn’t something that is applicable for you.

There is no getting over things, instead you prefer to… Read the full story

A picture of a University of Louisville professor looking after a single mum’s two kids while she took her final exam has been melting hearts on the internet.

Mum Monica Romero was due to take her final military history exam, as part of her bachelor’s degree, when her babysitter cancelled on her at the last minute.

Unable to find someone else to watch them at short notice, she had no choice but to take them with her and let them sit outside the hall.

Which is when her college professor Dr Daniel Krebs came to the rescue.

Three children got the surprise of their lives when their dad, who had been away with the Navy for a year, photobombed their Christmas picture with Father Christmas.

The children had thought their father, Rob Stella, would be unable to return from his post in time to join them to meet the big guy.

But Rob, who had been in the Navy for 23 years, came home from his final deployment on 5 December, just in time to join the family photo.

‘It couldn’t have gone more perfectly,’ Rob told ABC News. ‘Santa was pretty helpful. It was a good time.

I’m so glad you asked. Here’s our definitive guide to Christmas hampers.

Goodbye forever to the lie-in

There’s nothing quite like knowing you have a Saturday morning date with your bed.

The knowledge that there will be a glorious alarm-free morning, to snuggle up and catch up on much needed Zzzzzs is what gets us through the week.

But we should probably all stop doing that and wake up at the time we normally would, because a new study suggests that our beloved weekend lie-ins are probably doing more harm than good.

Incredible (Picture: Steve Peace)

Over 10 years ago Steve Peace, a tattoo artist based in Canada, tattooed portraits of his children, Elliot, Hamish and Ace, onto his wife Lindsay.

It was a touching tribute at the time, but led to awkward situations after their oldest son Ace transitioned and people asked who the child in the pink dress was.

But instead of going down the laser removal route, Steve came up with a brilliant idea which showed their support of Ace and allowed Lindsay to keep her ink.

They chose to transform the portrait and show who Ace really was.

Not only does this lumberjack cake look like a log, with very realistic bark-icing, it comes with its own edible axe, and when you chop into it, it’s plaid through and through.

We’d go as far as to say it’s lumbersexual.

The lumberjack cake of every hipster’s dreams was made by cake decorator and self-confessed tartan fanatic, Elizabeth Marek from Portland, Oregon.

Liz is head decorator and owner of the Artisan Cake Company and she created the cake for the Sugar Geek Show website (think Netflix for cake decorators).

Are you OK? (Picture: Daniella Birtley for Metro)

When I wrote a piece about what people should never say to parents of autistic kids, I saw it simply as an opportunity to vent about the things that I’ve had said to me about my own son.

I certainly wasn’t expecting it to touch quite such a nerve. But clearly it did – at the time of writing it has been shared more than fifty thousand times and I have heard endless tales of awful comments directed at other parents.

This follow up has been much harder to write… Read the full story

This is Ethan. Ethan went for a run in the rain on Sunday night, bumped into a local Illinois news crew doing a live weather forecast, and became the internet’s new crush.

Ethan was going about his business, enjoying an evening jog, in his shorts and, um, just his shorts, when he bumped into a WGN TV forecaster in the middle of a report.

Knowing TV gold when he saw it, the reporter decided to interview Ethan live on air, in the middle of a pretty heavy downpour.

He starts with the obvious question: ‘Dude, where is your shirt man?’ To which Ethan responds, cheerily: ‘Um, yeah, it’s a great day for a run, so it’s too wet to wear a shirt, you know?’

What’s the one thing everyone should know about sex? (Picture: Getty)

Sex is great, and fun, and it shouldn’t be something to stress out over.

Don’t spend a bunch of time researching and planning. Get into it. Enjoy the moment.

But before you get down to it, there are a few things you should know.

Thankfully the people on Reddit are here to help, sharing their need-to-know bits of advice on a thread that asks: ‘what is one thing about sex everyone should know?’

The answers are pretty brilliant (and fairly NSFW, obviously), and should be read and memorised before stripping off.
