A first-time mum died just ten weeks after giving birth to her daughter because her pregnancy masked the symptoms of her terminal cancer.
Laurel Cohen, 38, had experienced abdominal pain, breathlessness and constipation, which could be considered normal to experience during pregnancy. Both mum and baby seemed healthy at each checkup and scan.
However, her stomach pains grew worse and, eventually, by her 35th week, she was unable to go into work and was admitted to the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead.
