A new study has shown a worrying link between hormonal contraception and depression (Image: Getty)

If you’ve ever used any form of hormonal contraception, chances are you’ve had a chat with your friends along the lines of, ‘Is this normal?’

There’s no denying that putting hormones in your body can have negative effects for some people – and the results of this new study are definitely cause for concern.

Researchers at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark studied one million women between the ages of 15 and 34 who used hormonal contraception and discovered they were more likely to be prescribed antidepressants than those who were on other forms of contraception.

Here’s a sign of true friendship.

Andrew Nguyen, 18, a student at the University of Texas at Arlington, was in the library with his friend Diana Le this week, when Diana realised she hadn’t brought any trousers to change into for her exam.

She was wearing a pair of short shorts (aka booty shorts) to study in – and the exam was taking place in a lab, where everyone must wear trousers.

Diana asked everyone around them if they happened to have a spare pair of trousers they could lend her. They didn’t.

So, Andrew stepped up. He swapped his trousers with her,… Read the full story

We all know that Instagram is a powerful tool.

It can make celebrities out of slimmers and people who like jogging in their spare time.

Models are being discovered on the platform, thanks to carefully curated selfie collections.

It’s generally ridiculous how much influence it seems to have over people’s relationships, lives and careers.

And apparently, Instagram is now extending its power into the film industry.

According to Made in Dagenham actor Gemma Arterton, casting directors have started to weigh up actors’ social media following when considering them for film roles.

I thought I was tired because I have a busy job and young child. I never dreamed it would be leukaemia.

I can remember the exact moment that I discovered the first symptom of what turned out to be leukaemia. I was on holiday with my husband and daughter during the Summer of 2013 and we were enjoying a country walk on a beautiful day in Wiltshire when I noticed that the left side of my abdomen felt very firm. The firmness was quite disturbing because it was such an odd sensation but, as we often do when faced with uncertainty, I ignored it and tried to put it down to indigestion.

A few weeks passed and a new school term started. I work as a secondary school teacher so the start of the school year kept me busy and managed to distract me from the odd feeling I’d noticed in my abdomen.… Read the full story

autumn-1

Hurrah! Autumn is finally upon us, and autumn lovers across the land are rejoicing with tears in their eyes.

There are certain feelings of joy that only this season can bring to those obsessed with it. Gone are the sweaty and clammy summer days, gone are the wasps, goodbye annoying birds, and hello to crisp fresh air, toffee apples and scarves.

Autumn is all about the comfort, the food, and of course planning the scariest Halloween outfit, and seeing the perfect bonfire night display.

Here’s a list of things that all autumn lovers know to be true.

Most women cringe at the thought of being sent an unsolicited dick pic.

Because really, who wants to see a close up of penis when you’re trying to Instagram your lunch?

But it doesn’t matter how many times you tell them, some men just won’t give up on the thought that a picture of their genitals is much more appealing than a simple ‘hello’.
