The first thing that greeted me when I stepped off the Tube this morning was a shopping centre filled with twinkling Christmas lights.

That’s all you need when you’re still a bit sleepy on a Monday morning and not 100% sure what month it is.

But I double checked and I can confirm that it is still October (just).

Nonetheless, Christmas cards are in the shops, M&S’ Christmas department has opened and Christmas lights are going up on the streets.
