All those happy couples you hate-follow? They might be onto something.

A new study has found that people who boast about their relationship on social media – Facebook, specifically – are more likely to stay together.

The study, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, tracked 180 graduates in relationships, initially asking them questions on their level of commitment and length of their relationship.

They were then asked to log in to their Facebook accounts, so researchers could see how many photos the participants had posted with their significant others, and if they had changed their status to ‘in a relationship’.

video shows just how easy it is to edit away age
Whoa. (Picture: Youtube/rousselos)

Everything is a lie.

For some reason, we’d always imagined that Photoshop wizadry and excessive editing on advertising was strictly for photos, naively believing that if it was a moving ad, all that beauty was just down to flattering lighting and camera angles.

But this video firmly proves otherwise, showing just how easy it is to edit film to drastically alter someone’s appearance.

In the video, digital artist Rousselos Aravantinos uses what he calls ‘digital cosmetics’, erasing wrinkles and changing hair from grey to blonde to make actress Michele Valley look significantly younger.

He says the footage was shot on a Nikon V1 camera before being altered… Read the full story

The tired struggle is real (Picture: Getty)

We all have those times when all we want to do is just crawl into bed/sofa/any soft surface and sleep for at least 12 hours.

But people who are always tired know this feeling all too well, because they experience this every single day, every single second, always.

Here are some things that you only know if you’re always tired.

1. You aren’t lazy

You hate the assumption that just because all you want to do is rest that you’re lazy. You’re actually a decent level of physically active, thank you very much.

2. Sleep related activities = best

It’s not that you don’t enjoy other fun activities like bowling, travelling, shopping and whatnot. It’s just that anything which involves closing your eyes for a… Read the full story

This is how we do it, right? (Picture: Getty)

I used to have a woman’s body.

I also used to be really good at sex.

I mean reeeeeally good.

I prided myself in my ability to take any woman and her assertions that no-one could ever make her orgasm and make it happen within five minutes of sexy times starting, just to get it out of the way, you understand, and put her at ease.

Of course, I was oblivious to the fact that my inability to receive any sort of pleasure from my partner was constantly making them feel unattractive but hey! I was a giver. I was awesome.

Apparently home is where the heart is (Picture: Peter Dazeley)

Renting is expensive, and actually buying a house for many of us is a faraway dream.

Face it, if you can’t afford to rent then realistically you have two options – live at home with your parents or move into the forest.

Obvs you’ll happily accept the home comforts such as Sky TV and a constantly stocked fridge, but certain struggles really make you wish that moving out ASAP was an option for you…

1. The romance factor

Wave goodbye to any real chance of hanky panky if you’re living at home.

Firstly your parents would probably overhear *cringe* and secondly you don’t really fancy your latest Tinder catch bumping into your dad on the way out at 1am.

2. What privacy?

Surely everyone wears this to school? (Picture: Christopher Furlong/Getty)

Whether you knew it as a private school, an independent school or a public school – the terminology may have differed but the one thing that was common to all was that you – or rather your parents – paid fees.

So was it money well spent? If you can nod along to these things it was.

1. Your parents routinely told you how much they spent on fees

This was often held over your head along the lines of ‘if we’d not paid for you to go to school we could have bought a second home/gone on holiday/got grandma a new hip’.

You get one duff mark, fail one GCSE and the fee blackmail was rolled out.

Sleep

A new study has found that sleep almost doubles your chances of recalling forgotten information.

Which means you might want to try some last-minute cramming before bed if you’ve got an important exam coming up.

The study by psychologist Dr Nicolas Dumay, from the University of Exeter, analysed two previous research papers where volunteers were asked to remember made-up words.

Volunteers were asked to recall the words immediately after exposure, and then again after a sleep, or equivalent period of wakefulness.

The sleepers were much better at recalling the words – and could even remember more – at retest.

You might want to reconsider your latest profile picture, because there’s a good chance it looks nothing like you.

According to new research, a stranger who has only seen your face for a minute is far better at picking out a photo that actually looks like you than you are.

So while you may think your holiday selfie looks on point, chances are you’re deluding yourself about your appearance.

On a more serious level, this is actually pretty worrying. We use photo identification for financial transactions and crossing borders so being able to identify a photo that looks like you in real life is important.

Dior has unveiled a 14-year-old as its new ‘face’ of womenswear in a move that has left campaigners horrified.

The story of how Sofia Mechetner came to open Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2016 in Paris this month has been dubbed a ‘rags to riches’ tale.

The teen from a Tel Aviv housing estate, was spotted, by chance, in the Dior shop in Paris by creative director Raf Simons.

Just weeks later, she was making her catwalk debut and signing a two-year contract worth £170,000.

But what some see as a Cinderella story, other see as exploitation. Because Sofia is only 14-years-old.

Campaigners have called the appointment a ‘disappointing step back in time’.

Tea

This might be the end of that special relationship.

A new US guide called ‘How To Make Tea: The Science Behind The Leaf’ says North America is set to become the new tea capital of the world, with Brits no longer considered tea pioneers.

Fighting talk.

‘North America is now considered the launch pad for a global interest in speciality tea . . . and a vibrant tea culture,’ writes brave – some might say foolhardy – Seattle-based tea researcher Brian Keating.

According to the guide’s publisher Ivy Press, it is ‘a fascinating and invaluable handbook for anyone who doesn’t want to settle for less than the perfect brew.’
