The bacon mac ‘n’ cheese quesadilla is here and it’s the DREAM.

As in, this just knocked the French Fry Burger Bomb off our fave foods of all time list. Because, quite frankly, anything that comes with two pounds of bacon is a winner.

Thrillist’s Perry Santanachote is the man/master chef behind this mouthwatering snack, and, FYI, it involves basket-weaving said wedge of bacon into two tortillas and sandwiching them around oozing mac and cheese.

Is this not the ultimate party for your plate?

ACKRER Competitor in the annual World Mountain Bike Bog Snorkelling Championships at Llanwrtyd Wells Powys UK

The other day, I found myself joining a crowd in a town square (see 1, below) in a celebration of something that felt very…well, British.

We’re a curious bunch, as my American friends continually remind me.

If you’re willing to dig a little there’s a whole bunch of customs and pastimes that make us unique.

Here are 12 quirky British traditions you won’t believe are actually real.

When it comes to high street shopping haunts, these are officially the worst.

The 2015 survey on the best and worst shops in the UK, conducted by Which?, asked participants to rate retailers according to store prices, store environment, customer service and, the range and quality of its products.

Here’s the bottom five of 100 brands that failed to raise the bar this year:

96   = BHS
97   = H&M
98   = Topshop/Topman
99   = WHSmith
100 = EE

That’s right, EE came in last position for its unhelpful staff, long waiting times and busy stores. Poor show, you guys.

Total advocate for the coffee-before-anything-else rule? Here’s what you need to know to get the most out of your java.

It might be time to re-think that morning hit of coffee you swear by between 8am and 9am.

Why? Because that prime time coffee we drink shakes up our body clock which is also our circadian rhythm. This, according to AsapSCIENCE, regulates how sleepy or awake we feel and releases the stress hormone, cortisol.

Cortisol, ladies and gents, is automatically released during THOSE mentioned hours.

Jaffa Cakes
Let them eat… biscuits (Picture: Jenny Goodall)

If there’s one thing that really takes the biscuit about Jaffa Cakes, it’s that some people insist on calling them cakes.

Okay, so the word ‘cake’ is in their name, but that doesn’t prove anything: One Direction had a single called Best Song Ever and The NeverEnding Story finished after about an hour and 40 minutes.

There were howls of derision in some quarters when the Jaffa Cake was named Britain’s fifth favourite biscuit.

In 1991, McVitie’s, who make Jaffa Cakes, won a court battle to define the treats as cakes, saving millions of pounds in the process, as biscuits are subject to VAT.

But as anyone who sat through the second series of Broadchurch knows, sometimes the legal… Read the full story

Lego just got even more fun (Picture: YouTube/The King of Random)

Now we know what we’re doing with our weekend: making edible, stackable Lego jellies.

Because while normal Lego bricks are fun to build with, you can’t put them in your mouth (we tried, but our parents didn’t like it).

These gummy Lego sweets, however, are not only stackable; they’re snackable as well. Genius.

Pip the pug may be small in stature but she’s big on personality.

At four inches tall, and weighing just 1lb 4 ounces (that’s smaller than a can of Coke and the weight of a small bag of sugar), Pip may well be the world’s smallest pug.

She’s so tiny, she can sit in a gravy boat and, on long walks, she prefers to travel in owner Joanne Astley’s handbag.

Joanne, from Dudley in the West Midlands, says when they go on their walks, ‘people stop and stare – they can’t believe she’s real, they all think she’s a toy.’

She adds: ‘If I want to take her out, I have to pick her up… Read the full story

Chocolate hummus is now a thing – and, yes, we *think* that means someone’s just invented healthy Nutella.

Maddie Stein from website Spoon University discovered the strange sweet/savoury hybrid on a trip to Whole Foods and was ‘blown away’ by the taste sensation.

The sweet hummus is the work of Hope Foods who make various hummus and superfood dips, and is, they say, ‘a holy grail for chocolate lovers.’

It’s got that luxurious, lush decadence of Nutella but only a third of the calories and sugar. Oh, and a few more lumps.

Tokyo-based artist Adrian Hogan has turned the disposable into the collectible.

Coffee cup art is now an official thing, thanks both to our modern Starbucks obsession and artists who seek to make the ordinary, extraordinary.

But, before you roll your eyes (you cynical lot), this isn’t just another barista getting creative on his downtime. This is next level.

Adrian first sketches intricate Tokyo street scenes onto disposable coffee cups and then films the cups in the foreground of the scene they’re depicting.

helmies nail helmets
Because we always smudge (Picture: Helmiesbeauty.com)

You know that thing when you’ve paid hard-earned money on a manicure or you’ve attempted to do your own at home, and you go and smudge it straight away?

Because you’re just so damn impatient. That.

Well, not anymore. Introducing Helmies (bloody brilliant name): helmets for your nails that prevent any smudging or chipping post manicure. They’re reusable, lightweight, affordable (£7.99 for a pack of 10) and you can get them for your toes too.

All you do is pop them on about 15 minutes after your top coat of nail varnish and go about your business: scrolling through Instagram, riffling through your handbag, putting the kettle on.

Our kind of beauty hack.

A survey of 300 GPs has found that patients suffering from extreme exhaustion (Us. Every. Single. Monday. Morning) are just not drinking enough of the wet stuff. Water not prosecco.
