Photographer Ivette Ivens is on a mission to show just how ‘pure, beautiful, saintly and celestial’ breastfeeding is, and we think she’s succeeded.

Breastfeeding has become a controversial topic in recent years, with debates over where mothers should be able to breastfeed and whether Facebook should allow images of women breastfeeding to appear in newsfeeds.

And now Ivens, a Lithuanian-born photographer and breastfeeding advocate, has shot a number of stunning images which depict breastfeeding in its most beautiful and raw form.

The ethereal images feature a number of women from all over America nursing their children in fairy tale settings, including lakes, forests and lavender fields.

Hoovering? LOL (Picture: Getty)

You used to have a clean house, clean clothes and clean hair.

Then you had children.

Your standards gradually slipped lower and lower and before you know it you are eating the remains of a rice cake off the floor to avoid having to walk to the bin.  Not because you are lazy; but because some days, you are just too tired to care.

Here are a few dirty secrets that only a tired parent will understand:

1. When I am vacuuming, I will stamp on an old biscuit to make it fit up the hoover pipe instead of picking it up.

2. I have thrown away dirty saucepans because I can’t face scrubbing them.

3. I have told my kids… Read the full story

The Only Way is Essex  (Picture: Lime Pictures)

Just like many other places around the country, Essex has its stereotypes.

I am sure we have all heard of at least one or two.

Here, I clear up some of the common misconceptions people make about folk from Essex.

1. Essex girls are easy

Yep, that’s right, a bag of chips and a can of cider and we are anybody’s. Seriously, Essex is just the same as anywhere else in the country, and yes there are people who are more generous with their love than others. Most are not.

2. We bathe in fake tan

I for one am offended by this *shakes fist* because I HATE the stuff with a passion; it smells and streaks and flakes off leaving… Read the full story

Caroline Boudet is mum to a beautiful four-month-old girl called Louise.

Louise has Down’s Syndrome and, since she was born, Caroline has been shocked by the number of insensitive comments she’s received.

Earlier this week, the journalist and mum-of-two decided to list all the inappropriate things people say on her Facebook page, in a bid to make them think before they speak.

Because, as she says, ‘words are important’.

Caroline begins by saying: ‘Here is my baby girl, Louise. She is 4 months old, has two legs two arms, and one extra chromosome.’

Amy, with her sons Garrett and Greyson, has donated 29 gallons of her breast milk (Picture: WPXI)

American mum-of-two Amy Bormann has donated 29 gallons of her breast milk to a local Wisconsin hospital after clearing out her freezer.

That’s 105 litres of breast milk. Which is 185 pints of milk.

Amy says that when she was breastfeeding her second child Gresyon, now one, she was ‘blessed with a very abundant supply of milk’.

By the time he was six months old, she told ABC News, she had ‘two entire deep freezers packed full of milk’.

She realised she had to do something with all that extra milk and, having worked at a neonatal care unit, she knew just what to do with it.

‘I worked in a NICU,’ Amy says,… Read the full story

If you were expecting the second coming of Christ to be a grand spectacular, we’re afraid we have some bad news for you…

Yes, it seems that Jesus C is not only alive and well, but has secured himself a job at sandwich chain Pret A Manger.

The discovery was made by London-based poet Tom Chivers, who was shocked to see that he’d been served by none other than ‘Jesus C’ when he popped to PRET for a chicken Caesar & bacon on an artisan baguette.

Talking to Metro.co.uk, the practising Roman Catholic exclaimed: ‘I didn’t realise the Church was checking up on me at my eatery of choice.’

Behold the Dausage (Picture: Facebook)

It’s so wrong it might just be right.

A man called Liam Bennett has been quietly creating a new foodstuff to blow your minds in a corner of Carmarthenshire in south west Wales.

It’s the sausage/doughnut hybrid you never even knew you wanted. That’s a sausage filled with jam. And it’s called a Dausage *hears choirs of angels singing*.

We’re divided between utter horror and unfathomable thirst (on seeing it for the first time, one person in the Metro.co.uk office said ‘it looks like a fallopian tube.’)

The list of amazing flavour combinations currently being tasted-tested by Liam’s brave family and friends includes:

  • Pork with Strawberry Jam
  • Pork and Beef with Custard
  • Pork with Leek and Blackcurrant Jam
  • Chicken with Raspberry Jam
  • Dausage Rolls
  • Venison with Strawberry Custard
  • Vegetarian with Primula

Louis’ tattoo tribute to his granny certainly went the extra mile (Picture: Spike TV)

When this tattoo fan’s beloved granny died, he went the extra mile to pay tribute to her with a very special inking.

But rather than just remember her with a straightforward design, sheet metal worker Louis took things a little further – incorporating some of her actual ashes in to his body art.

The 24-year-old – who appears on the latest instalment of Tattoo Disasters UK (despite the lack of actual disaster in his tattoo) – explained just how close he was to his gran, and that he couldn’t imagine a better way of honouring her memory.

‘Because she was so special to me, I planned on getting a memorial… Read the full story

You WILL go to the ball (Picture: Ijustheardtheshopbellring/eBay)

A wedding dress that never got a chance to have its big day is selling itself on eBay in the hopes it can free itself of the ‘cardboard confines’ of its box.

The ivory lace Diane von Furstenberg Zarita dress missed out on its wedding at City Hall in New York after its British owner, 30, who wishes to remain unnamed, she had split up with her fiance.

And though the bride tells metro.co.uk that she has managed to mourn and move on (kind of), she says that while the dress still sits abandoned in the corner of her room it acts as a constant reminder of what… Read the full story

Imagine this winging its way to your door (Picture: Dirty Martini)

How do you fancy getting a perfect martini delivered to your office at 5pm on a Friday?

Well, now that dream is real thanks to London cocktail bar Dirty Martini. They have launched a martini delivery service.

The good news is that it’s totally free. The bad news is that it’s for one day only – Friday June 19, which also happens to be National Martini Day – and you have to be based in W1, London.

But, y’know, if it proves successful, they might roll it out more widely. So, one day, you could be supping martinis delivered direct to your sofa. Or, how about cocktails in bed of a weekend?

Anyway, next Friday, Dirty Martini will… Read the full story

These three friends set out to meet their twin strangers in March (Picture: YouTube)

Back in March, the world heard about Niamh Geaney and her ‘Twin Strangers’ project.

Niamh, a 26-year-old from Dublin, and her two friends Terence Manzanga and Harry English, had given themselves 28 days to find their doppelgangers.

Niamh and her pals’ quest was inspired by Devon-born journalist Sophie Robehmed, who, in 2011, became fascinated by the idea there might be someone out there who looked exactly like her.

‘It would be amazing if it was someone from some other country,’ Niamh told the Irish Post at the beginning of her search.

‘It would be great if they were in Hawaii or something…we could go over and meet them and have a cup of tea,’… Read the full story

You might think that standing still and waving your arms around like an air traffic controller does not constitute a workout.

You would be wrong.

Here I am, wearing my ‘fierce’ face, bingo wings aching and desperately trying to keep up with professional voguer Bianca Traum.

‘Voguing is a way of expressing yourself.

‘You have to stand by your way of expressing yourself and not apologise for taking that much space,’ she tells me, which is all very well but I am already feeling pretty apologetic about the comedy hip thrusts I did in the warm up.

Voguing is back in a big way, with slebs such as FKA Twigs, Rihanna and… Read the full story

When asked why she thinks people are afraid to come out as feminists she says, ‘Probably because, I don’t know, they should be afraid NOT to come out as feminists because I’m going to come out and get ’em’.

Which basically answers the question about whether feminist issues come up in the new Muppets show. They do.

14 things all people who are chronically late know to be true

White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland gif

The world is split into two types of people – those who live by the clock (the boring ones) and those of us who are always, chronically late (the cool kids, obvs).

Being late is not something people tend to have a lot of sympathy for, but as tardy types have been saying for years, it’s not our fault.

And now, thanks to some very clever people at New York University, we finally have proof that we simply can’t help being late. Yes, apparently some people are just ‘born to be late’, and have a personality type that means they find it hard to be punctual.

If that’s YOU, here are 14 things you’ll know to be true…

1. You never (well, rarely) actually mean to be late.

2. The more you try to hurry, the longer you take.

3. Once in a blue moon you’re on time and it feels really great.
