The unicorn was actually a white pony in fancy dress (Picture: KTVU)

On Wednesday evening, an escaped ‘unicorn’ sparked a four-hour police car chase in Madera, California.

True story.

The mythical beast actually turned out to be a white pony dressed as a unicorn, which had escaped from a children’s party.

The pony led California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers a merry (dare we say it, magical) dance for four hours, as it trotted through traffic, wearing a pink halter and horn. It first made a break for it at 2.30pm but was quickly returned to the party. However, it escaped again at 5.30pm before being recaptured later that day.

Tights. There are many, many reasons they are the WORST.

The constant ladders. The face that they always either sit too high, or cut into your stomach with their judgemental stretchy waistbands. All the confusing denier options.

But the most annoying thing of all? When your tights keep slipping down during the day, meaning every few hours (or, worse, every few minutes) you have to do that awkward shimmy and jiggle to get the crotch area away from your knees.

Thankfully there’s an answer.

Casual sex – it’s loads of fun, lots of people do it, but there’s still so much shame surrounding getting your sex on outside of a longterm relationship (especially for women).

But all that shaming needs to stop. And not just because it’s outdated, sexist, and incredibly annoying, but because – according to research – it could be damaging our mental wellbeing.

As a new video from The Science of Us explains, it’s been found that casual sex really isn’t the bad, society-ruining thing many people think.

Struggling to get it all out?

If you’re dealing with constipation, there’s no need to reach straight for the laxatives. A blogger has shared a secret trick to get your bowels moving once again – involving no medication or fancy teas.

It’s all down to the ‘poop button’.

The poop button is the area on your stomach three finger-widths directly below your belly button.

Apparently, this exact spot – also known as the Sea of Energy – is connected to other areas of your body, such as your digestive system, colon, and even your sex-y areas.

The children, from the Missouri Human Society’s Shelter Buddies Reading Program, have to undergo a 10 hour training program in order to sit with the dogs.

But they enjoy practicing their reading and watching as the dogs listen to their stories.

Why do we have a leap year every four years? (Picture: Getty)

In case you missed it (and who could blame you? Not everyone is a constant calendar-checker), 2016 is a leap year, meaning we have one extra day: February 29.

We all know that leap years fall every four years, anyone born on February 29th gets special treats, and that on leap day women are encouraged to propose.

But have you ever wondered why we actually have leap years? Are they just a weird tradition we’ve made up for an excuse for free stuff?

Nope. Leap years are actually pretty important, and play a key role in keeping seasons and our calendars working properly.

We’ve had bread-facing. Bathing in chips. Clearly, there’s a strange satisfaction in watching people getting hands-on with their food.

The latest artist to get food-physical? Spanish artist Mar Cuervo.

Her latest project, titled Destroyer, sees Mar taking delicious-looking food, taking it in her hands, and lovingly smushing it to smithereens.

The whole thing is strangely hypnotic, deeply satisfying, and more than a little bit odd. We are obsessed.

Mar told metro.co.uk: ‘These gifs started as videos.

Russell Skellett was left furious at the fact he was ordered to pay £1,851.94 in council tax, after buying two houses in Eastwood, next to his own home on Three Tuns Road.

He thinks both houses were bought in poor condition, he does not legally need to pay council tax on either, he told the Eastwood Advertiser.

Broxtowe Borough Council did not agree, however. Having inspected the buildings, they decided his surroundings were suitable to be living in.
Russell was taken to court, and although still feels the homes are in no fit state for living in, he has been forced to pay the hefty bill.

Two years ago I went skiing for the first time. I enjoyed it. Apart from when I was skiing, which I loathed. I liked the sitting in outdoor Jacuzzis and eating stuff covered in cheese. But the sliding down a snowy mountain on big curly sticks, in boots that squashed my feet so I was in constant pain? Not so much.
Recently some Austrians challenged me to give it another go, saying they could help me enjoy it. I was sure they were mistaken. But I… Read the full story
