I can't eat this

If you, like us, start to think about lunch straight after you’ve finished breakfast, then these illustrations will speak to you on a spiritual level.

They come from the people behind Lingvistov.com, a group of Russian creatives, who specialise in cute, relevant cartoons.

To date, they’ve illustrated the joys of sleep (‘I could be a morning person if morning happened around noon’), the benefits of having a cat (‘cat teaches you not to waste time’), and now they bring us ’10 things every foodie can relate to’.

These people may understand us better than we understand ourselves.

The eternal struggle

Rachel no longer feels she has to cover her birthmark with layers of makeup (Picture: PA Real Life)

A young mum who spent over a decade hiding her birthmark under layers of makeup, finally feels happy in her own skin, after falling in love.

From the age of 13, Rachel Anderson refused to leave the house until she’d spent at least an hour covering the birthmark which spans her whole left cheek with makeup.

She would even sometimes be reduced to tears by her own reflection, caught in the mirror.

But, after years of hiding away, the 24-year-old now feels confident going out bare-faced, and it’s all down to falling in love, becoming a mum… Read the full story

Scarred Not Scared: Video of people sharing the story behind their scars proves that all bodies are beautiful

When you tell people that you have had 15 surgeries from a brain tumour, a punctured intestine, an obstructed bowel, a cyst in my brain and a condition called hydrocephalus, people respond in a number of ways: shock, sadness, sympathy, empathy but mostly – kindness.

When I take off my top, it’s often the opposite.

First there is shock, because despite me sharing my story, most people do not equate surgeries with surgery scars.

Despite warning them about my medical trauma, they don’t expect the scars that come with it.

Then, there is a whole range of reactions: confusion, pity and even sometimes disgust.

Last summer, I wore a bikini for the first time and shared my story, posting a blog on Instagram titled ‘People with Scars Can’t Wear Bikinis’.

Time out
We haven’t had one for about 10 years but we’re still disappointed Cadbury (Picture: Cadbury)

Okay, Cadbury, we need a time out here.

Not content with changing our Creme Eggs, they’re now phasing out a classic – Time Out bars.

Cadbury has confirmed they are scrapping the traditional two finger wafer in favour of a more streamlined single wafer, called, imaginatively, the Time Out Wafer.

The decision was made because the two-finger chocolate biscuit wafer hasn’t been selling well.

Having kids is brilliant, except when it isn’t – and for most of us, the less-brilliant bits aren’t things we want to share with the wider world.

Until booze is involved, that is.

After a couple of pints or proseccos many parents will happily share everything, no matter how personal. Here are 16 things sober parents won’t tell you.

1. Their kids are just as bad as yours

All children hit, throw tantrums, behave badly and generally act like little sods. It’s just that sober, we won’t admit that our ones do.

2. The birth was like a horror movie

It’s amazing how horrendous and dangerous something as natural as childbirth can be. It doesn’t take… Read the full story

Yeah, not appropriate. (Picture: Instagram/hotmigrants)

Every now and again, we manage to stumble upon an Instagram that is truly brilliant and life-improving. Like the Bacon the Sharpug Instagram. Or any and all related to doughnuts.

This Instagram is no such thing. Nope. It’s just entirely inappropriate and a tad uncomfortable.

Presenting the ‘Hot Migrants’ Instagram account. It’s dedicated to all the ‘handsome men on their journey to Europe’. Oh dear.

‘Their countries might be falling apart but their sex appeal still goes strong,’ reads the Instagram, which pairs photos of ‘hot’ refugees with captions like ‘pretty in pink’ and ‘waiting handsomely for a better life’.

Um, yes. (Picture: Francois Payard)

Stop everything and bow down to the greatness and genius of baker Francois Payard.

Not only has he bestowed upon us the joy of Macaron Day (It’s March 20. Mark your calendars), but he’s also created the one doughnut related mashup we never knew we needed: the macaronut (H/T Delish).

Yep. It’s a macaron doughnut. AKA our life’s dream. AKA the most Instagram-friendly sugary treat the world has yet seen.

Forget the cronut. The macaronut is quite clearly the way forward.

As everyone from Kendall and Gigi to Britney and Justin knows, the best way to take your style to a whole new level is a spot of twinning. Matching outfits are perfect for every occasion.

Another pair that know this essential style fact are Erin Condrin and Lacey.

Erin, from Queensland, is a student with Classical Type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome; a tissue disorder that causes motor skill issues and joint dislocations.

Lacey is her service dog.

While at first glimpse, you may assume he just can’t quite grasp the use of Instagram, accidentally missing out the rest of his face in each selfie – he actually does it purposely, almost mocking those who think older people will never understand the Internet.

But judging by the feedback his selfies are receiving, he understands it more than most.

He’s gathered an Instagram following of almost 10,000 people – who just can’t get enough of his forehead.

Everyone knows that motherhood has a profound impact on our lives, and nowhere is this more evident than in the workplace.

It doesn’t take long after returning to work for the evidence that you’re the mum in the office to start slipping out…

1. You pull out some random scrap paper to make notes in a meeting and then realise it’s the head lice warning from your child’s school. Does anyone else feel itchy?

2. You use a pen with a wild-haired troll as the eraser, not because you’re being ironic, but because it is the only functioning pen in your work bag. (Personally, I’ve been known to use crayons, scented markers and #2 pencils. Can someone… Read the full story

Don’t upset the IT guy (Picture: lanechr/Reddit)

We know, we know, those ubiquitous ‘hilarious’ coffee shop and bar chalkboards are a scourge of modern society.

You can’t move these days for witty sayings and inspirational quotes placed outside independent coffee shops and strangely named bars full of bearded hipsters, tiny furniture and brioche.

The signs are literally everywhere.

But, every once and a while, you’ll see one that makes you snigger.

Such as this sign shared by a University of Queensland student and Redditor lanechr, who spotted it outside local bakery On A Roll.

Because who doesn’t love a terrible coffee/IT pun?

It’s a dish traditionally filled with meat and glazed with egg but vegans can still celebrate British Pie Week.

We’ve found a heap of delicious-looking plant-based recipes and shop-bought varieties.

From imitation-meat pies to shepherd’s pie and even apple pies, it’s all here.

A pie can, historically, be any kind of food. Pie pastry shell was designed to be used as a baking dish, storage container, and a way to serve a filling.

Defined by its shell, it’s no surprise that a pastry company actually came up with the national awareness day in the first place.

But there are some great vegan recipes out there:

McDonald's loyalty program could mean free fries Getty
Yes. Yes. A million times yes. (Picture: Getty/metro.co.uk)

Very important food-related news: McDonald’s is launching a loyalty scheme.

Meaning that soon we could be rewarded for our late-night drunken trips for burgers and McFlurries. With more burgers and McFlurries. Possibly.

The details of the loyalty scheme are currently shrouded in secrecy and ~intrigue~, so no one (other than Ronald McDonald himself, we imagine) knows exactly how the program will work and what the rewards will be.

But here’s what we do know.

First off, McDonald’s is definitely, 100% launching some kind of reward-based scheme for frequent customers. It’s legit. It’s happening. It’s not just one of our McNugget-fuelled fever dreams.

Duncan the service dog alerts his owner by bumping him with his nose when he senses his blood glucose levels becoming out of acceptable range.

He has been trained to bring a juice box to his owner when they are at home, in order to keep his blood sugar levels steady.

In the post and video uploaded by a Reddit user, this one trick saved his friend’s life when he once fell into a paralysed-like state and couldn’t get up.

Duncan rushed to his side with a juice box in order to get his glucose levels back up – ultimately resulting in saving him from more serious consequences.

Duncan was trained to sense glucose by trainers who provided him with scent samples from their owner or future… Read the full story

‘No, daddy. Please don’t’ (Credit: Getty)

There are many reasons to despair of humanity. Selfies are definitely one of them.

They seem so innocent –  a quick snap yourself on a good hair day, or when out with your friends. Perfectly harmless, right?

Wrong. They’re deeply sinister and are ruining society as we know it, with dire consequences for humanity and others around us.

Don’t believe us? Well here’s the mounting evidence that selfies are destroying humanity and frankly everyone’s day.

1) They can be deadly

Mumbai ordered a selfie ban earlier this year and declared 16 no-selfie zones in the city because they’ve become… Read the full story
