13 things you’ll only know if your partner’s your best friend

$

It’s nice to have a partner who’s also your best friend.

Not just because it’s a two in one: someone you can chat to all night while also having amazing sex – but because you end up with double the memories you’d get with a non-intimate best friend.

Here are 13 things you’ll only know if your partner’s your best friend.

1. You can talk to them about anything.

They’re the one you’d call up to cry about anything from a major wardrobe malfunction to something you’re worried about telling your GP.

2. Because you don’t feel embarrassed around them.

They know you inside and out. You never hide from them. You’re completely open with them about everything, including embarrassing mishaps you could previously only tell your childhood best friend about.

3. You have a fun relationship.

You don’t just go on dinner dates and to the movies. You try out their hobbies and vice versa.… Read the full story

A 14-year-old boy has been desperately trying to raise some cash so that he can take his girlfriend out for lunch.

Going door-to-door around his neighborhood to offer his gardening skills, the teen has been proving to adults that not all teenagers are as lazy as they think

The romantic lad’s efforts have been praised by over 90,000 people after a photo of himself posted by a moved customer, Ryan Cox, went viral with over 90,000 shares.

Ryan shared a photo of the boy mowing his lawn. He said: ‘This 14-year-old boy came by the house with a lawnmower wanting to mow our lawn for $5.

Well…me being a hustler I had to ask this kid why you mowing lawns? He replied with… ‘I’d like to take my girlfriend to lunch tomorrow and I don’t have enough money.”

Of course, Ryan couldn’t bring himself to be a hustler on this occasion, and paid the boy the full five dollars,… Read the full story

As you get older, people struggle with what to get you for your birthday.

Unless they know you incredibly well, of course.

Then they know exactly what you want – even if sometimes that’s just cold hard cash.

So when one boy’s sister had her birthday coming up, he knew what she really wanted was money.

But much to his sister’s disappointment, though, he wasn’t about to give her what she wanted.

This is definitely a reminder that siblings are the worst.

This is why we side-eye, according to science

side eyeing

It’s a gesture that transcends language barriers, age, and gender: the simple side-eye.

Well, we SAY simple. It’s actually very tough to truly master the side-eye. But even if you do it poorly, its meaning is understood: I am judging you hard, and I do not like what I see.

But why do we side-eye? Where does it come from? How does one movement of our eyes send such a clear message?

Cristen Conger of Stuff Mom Never Told You has the answers.

In her latest video she explores the full evolutionary history of side-eyeing and its parent gesture, the classic 90s eye roll.

So. Why do we side-eye and eye roll?

Eye-rolling only became a sign of disapproval in the 1980s

Everyone should have grandma flower girls. (Picture: Emilie Voss Facebook/ Brian Evans Photography)

Wedding coming up? Forget roping in your second cousin’s cute kid to throw petals all over the aisle.

The big wedding trend is hiring your grandma for the flower girl gig.

Joanne and DD kicked things off last year, joyfully throwing petals from their basket in coordinating mothers of the bride and groom outfits. They nailed it.

And now Grandma Alice has come into the game. Skipping the tulle and little ballet slippers in favour of an elegant frock coat, she rose to the occasion as… Read the full story

nail polish melting cup

Oh, all right then. This just completely ruined any future relaxation and enjoyment caused by a fresh manicure.

Did you know that the chemicals in nail polish remover are powerful enough to melt a cup? As in, acetone will straight up melt a cup into a bubbling pool of destruction?

A video proving this terrifying information to be true is all over the internet today, as nail-painters cry ‘DEAR GOD, NO, MY POOR NAILS’ into their laptops.

Because yes, this is a deeply concerning bit of knowledge we happily could have done with out. Look at this.

Peak comfort eating. (Picture: Getty)

Yes, eating a borderline-inappropriate number of chocolate eggs is a true joy.

But let’s take a moment for Easter’s other glorious treat: the humble hot cross bun.

They’re essential. Hot, toasted, and topped with melted butter (or chocolate spread, for heathens), they’re the last moment of cosy comfort food before spring hits and everyone’s more in the mood for salads and ice cream.

The best ones are always at your grandma’s house, when you pop round for a cup of tea and get surprised with a delicious bun. But failing that, there are plenty of great hot cross options on offer.

So, we’ve sampled the best ones available at major supermarkets, rated them,… Read the full story

Welcome to that awful part of a night out, most commonly known as a hangover.

You’ve awoken from your somewhat peaceful slumber, and entered a world of pain, nausea and regret.

You spent way more than you promised yourself you would, you’ve got a few mysterious bruises, and quite possibly the remains of a kebab in your bed.

But not all is lost, because there are certain things that can bring you comfort during this perilous time.

Running home for Easter like…(Picture: The Simpsons/ 20th Century Fox)

The only thing more exciting about a four day weekend spent eating as much chocolate as possible, is being able to do this with your family.

If you live away from home, there is a special warm fuzzy feeling attached to times like Easter, because not only do you get to have a break from normal life, but you get to go home and catch up with loved ones.

Chances are you probably started planning Easter as soon as Christmas was over, and given the nature of these trips we can understand why.

1.The planning

Given the pesky nature of Easter to move around, you will have consulted several calendars, online guides, and rung your mum several times to make sure that you’ve actually got the right dates.

Then had a mild panic when you realise that getting the train home costs the same as a return trip… Read the full story

Why do brides wear white on their wedding day?

Why do brides have to wear white? (Picture: Getty)

Wedding dresses are white. That’s just how things are.

Doesn’t matter if you literally never wear white in your normal, everyday life. Doesn’t matter if you know, deep in your heart, that you are embarrassingly clumsy and WILL drop something on all that pristine white satin.

Wedding dresses are white, and only ‘unconventional’ brides wear another colour.

Which is a silly social convention to uphold so strictly, really. Because wedding dresses being white is actually a fairly recent fashion choice.

Because when chocolate is involved, we all know the struggle is very, very real.

1. The upsetting fact that Easter eggs don’t count as real eggs, because eggs = healthy. Easter eggs = egg shaped fatty, chocolately deliciousness.

2. An Easter egg is not just a chocolate egg, but all the other stuff too. I mean, how can you open an Easter egg and NOT eat the 4 bags of chocolate buttons that come inside of it?

3. As soon as Easter is close, chocolate is everywhere. When you turn on the TV, when you open a paper, when you’re scrolling through Facebook, BAM, chocolate.

4. You tell yourself you’ll just treat yourself to one egg this… Read the full story

14 things that make Easter the best family holiday

Easter bunny outfit beats Santa outfit (Picture: Getty)

Christmas, New Year, summer break. These may seem the obvious time for a bit of family bonding but don’t be fooled, Easter trumps the lot of them.

And here are 14 reasons why…

1. Minimum prep

The festive season is a living hell, shopping for presents, planning the dinner of the century and sorting decorations. Easter needs no more than a traditional roast and a liberal scattering of chocolate eggs resulting in more time spent together.

2. Low expectations

Easter doesn’t have the hype of other events which means it’s much easier for it to exceed expectations. Unlike the misery of a New Year let down. Forced fun is no fun.

How clean is your makeup sponge? (Picture: Getty)

It’s a paranoia that only sneaks up on you the fiftieth time you swipe your beautyblender across your nose: ‘how dirty is this thing I’m currently putting on my face?’

Hopefully – if you’re washing your sponges and brushes regularly – you won’t actually be putting a horrifying amount of bacteria all over your face.

But even if you do a weekly shampoo, the worry might keep popping up. Are you really washing your tools properly? And how will you know if you’re not?

Here’s the answer.

A few weeks ago Redditor doulikecookies shared a photo of her makeup sponge. She’d cut it in half to see what was actually… Read the full story
