Instagram has been accused of undoing
Instagram has been accused of damaging attempts to make beauty standards more inclusive (Picture: Instagram)

Unless you’ve been too busy taking pictures of your smashed avocado on toast for the last week, you’ll be aware that Instagram has banned the hashtag #curvy.

The fact that #curvy is banned, but not #skinny and #thin has horrified those who promote body confidence.

Jenny McQuaile, director and producer of new documentary ‘Straight/Curve’ about the new era of plus size supermodels redefining society’s beauty standards, wrote of her anger yesterday for Metro.co.uk.

‘Models, agents, photographers, stylists, brands and magazine editors are all fighting for inclusivity and diversity in the fashion industry and in society,’ she wrote.

All the sugar (Picture: Imgur)

Yes. This has happened.

Putting aside the fact that a single slice will probably send you in to a sugar-induced coma, there’s an actual real life Reese’s Pieces ice cream cake in existence, and we want one immediately.

Because the union of Reese’s Pieces, ice cream and cake form is truly a joy to behold, and definitely worth getting the sugar shakes for.

The cake – which is sadly only currently available in America (we know, we know, major bad times) – has just been launched by ice cream chain Friendly’s, and has basically sent our sweet-toothed American cousins into meltdown.

A woman has written a comic book about abortion in an attempt to make a very hard topic that bit easier to deal with.

It’s an essential read.

American-based illustrator Leah Hayes wrote ‘Not Funny Ha-Ha: A Handbook for Something Hard’ to take some of the stigma out of what is an extremely emotional subject.

The book shows the journeys of two women who have chosen to have abortions – 23-year-old Mary and 31-year-old Lisa.

Dead fish GIF

Warning: When we say this video is grim, we really really mean it.

If you’re squeamish, stop right here. Really. We mean it. Because this video will test the tolerance of even the most iron-stomached among you.

Because if like us – and the people in this video – you believed that decapitating and gutting a fish would mean it was, well, dead, you’d be wrong.

As this video clearly shows, this headless gutless fish is far from dead, and it certainly isn’t happy that someone’s trying to scrape it’s scales off.

Seriously, it’s enough to put you off your… Read the full story

Stop moving there you middle-class idiots.

Remember that time when you wanted to seek ‘authentic’ London so you moved there?

Remember when you were desperate to prove you could live in a ‘gritty’ bit of London?

Remember that time all those artists were ‘revitalising’ an area because it was the only place they could afford?

Remember that time when you moved away because that same place had ‘lost its soul’?

Remember that time when Nathan Barley was satirising you NEARLY A DECADE AGO?

Little Boy Listening to music

We’re all a bit guilty for looking back at childhood through slightly rose-tinted spectacles but they truly were simpler – and arguably better times.

As we grow up and have to face real-life irritations such as work, finances and *gulp* responsibility, we become more and more nostalgic for those early years we recall enjoying so much.

There are loads of triggers that make us look wistfully back to the decade of innocent youth that preceded those vile teenage years and a recent survey by Nick Jr, complete with science and everything, has found out the eight things which are most likely to take you down memory lane.

And, interestingly, the top three are all musical, proving once and for all that music… Read the full story

Imagine if someone told you you could snack on bacon all day long and it wouldn’t significantly increase your chances of a heart attack?

Well, you don’t have to imagine it, because we’re telling you, it exists.

Give thanks to the ancient Danepak lords because you can now enjoy the powerful taste of bacon all day long – even the vegans.

Researchers at the Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Center say they have patented a new type of seaweed that could potentially be the next superfood. But better, obviously, because it tastes like bacon.

Tourists in beach chairs watch parasailing over the Caribbean.
Perfect? You’d think, wouldn’t you?

You can’t please some people, no matter how incredible the holiday destination. Especially when there are crowds, selfie sticks and overpriced ice creams to be nit-picked at.

True, not every holiday is perfect. Sometimes something genuinely ruins it. But you can’t help feeling that, for these people, nothing is too small to write the holiday off as a DISASTER.

Two sisters-of-the-bride performed a five minute medley during the wedding toasts and there’s really only one word for it – epic.

Kelsey and Maddie Hallerman’s musical tribute to their sister Caitlin, during her wedding reception in June, is now taking the internet by storm.

Neither girl is going to be winning X-Factor any time soon, but what they lack in talent, they make up for in enthusiasm – and possibly prosecco.

At the beginning of the video, the co-maids-of-honour announce ‘enough of the sappy talk’ and then ask the DJ to drop the beat.

In the next five minutes, they go from a slightly cringe rendition of Tracy Chapman’s ‘Give me one reason’ to a Backstreet Boys classic,… Read the full story

No longer will you have to run the gauntlet of the Percy Pig aisle before you pay for your M&S quinoa salad.

Marks has finally followed its supermarket rivals and, from September, it will no longer be selling sweets at the tills.

They’ve already been trialling ‘healthy lanes’ in stores for a while, which have apparently proved popular with customers nursing a dangerous Percy habit.

And the move follows a report released by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition, which said Brits need to reduce their sugar intake dramatically – by a full 50 per cent.

Over 25% of under 25s now describe themselves as completely teetotal – representing a 40% increase from 2005.

One area this move to sobriety has affected is the normally boozy traditions of the stag-do. According to Marco Walker whose company Design Adventure sends over 15,000 men on their stag-dos every year they have been inundated with requests for sober stag-do ideas.

So why are men opting to say goodbye to bachelorhood without the aid of the ale? We’ve got 14 good reasons to give it a try.

1. Grooms want to remember it

Because we NEED to have some idea of what we’re actually putting into our bodies.

The Local Government Association (LGA) has said that every UK restaurant, food chain, and pubs should be displaying the calorie content of every food item on their menu.

They say that while some places are already getting in on the calorie-sharing fun, the UK food industry ‘should be doing more.’

Why Saturday's in the 90s were the best (Taran B)
The weekend was made of these

Kids of 2015 reckon that a cheeky Nandos and a Netflix binge equals a great Saturday. Well they are all disgustingly mistaken.

Great Saturdays are not created equal, because the 90s basically had the best ones.

Not only did they involve Power Rangers, light up shoes and Mr. Blobby, but they also involved a trip to Woolies.

Here’s some things that every 90s kid did on a Saturday, aka the best day of the entire week…
